Another Sunday, another huge day of tournaments on PokerStars and FullTilt. Both sites had successful days, as every tournament was able to reach its guarantee, a great sign for the future. FTR would be remiss not to mention a smaller event, won by former FTR writer, David “Dthorne04” Thorne, for a few pennies shy of $16,000. Perhaps even more impressive, he was able to own PokerStars sponsored pro Gavin Griffin heads-up, battling for quite some time before taking home the title. Congratulations to Dave on his success!

The first event of the day on PokerStars was the Sunday Warm-Up, a $215 tournament which has consistently generated the day’s 2nd largest prize pool for some time now, overtaking the $750k on FullTilt. Those opening the final table may have thought they stumbled across a high-stakes cash game, as three players, “brianm15”, “supa4real”, and Tom “kingsofcards” Marchese, all made deep runs. Marchese is definitely the more notable of the three, as he is a fixture in both PokerStars and FullTilt’s High Stakes games, playing all the way up to $500/$1000 blinds against the likes of Tom Durrrr Dwan, Phil Ivey, and Patrik Antonius.

A bit of drama was taken out of the final table, as the final four players decided to chop the remaining prize pool, leaving only $10,000 to be played for. At the time of the chop brianm15 was way behind in chips; however, he mounted a furious comeback, taking down the win, and $85,000.

The Sunday Million was able to squeak past its guarantee once again, as 7,856 players created by far and away the biggest prize pool of the day. A former runner-up of the Million, “TheCronic420” made another final table appearance before busting in 6th place for over $47,000. Just as in the Warm-Up a deal was struck at the final table, this time between the final three. Below you will find the final-table stacks, bust-out hands, and chop-adjusted pay-outs:

There were plenty of big names to be found at the Sunday500 final table yesterday. Headlining a solid group were Anthony “holdplz” Spinella and “HITTHEPANDA”, two solid players ranked just outside the top-50 online tournament professionals. Spinella has had some previous success in the $500k, finishing 5th for $25,000 in May. He also has a win in FullTilt’s biggest Sunday re-buy event, the $200k gtd., for $88,714. HITTHEPANDA nearly shipped the $750k on FullTilt in July, taking 2nd for $94,093, and has had numerous success in re-buy events, including a victory in the $109r on PokerStars. Joining them was another top-100 ranked pro, Tom “hitthehole” Middleton, who took 2nd in the $500k this week. The $64k cash was the biggest of his career, crushing a $23,000 cash on Titan Poker for winning their Friday $100k Guaranteed. In the end it was lesser-known “McMang” taking home the title, the biggest of his career, eclipsing a win back in 2004 in a Sunday Major on Stars.

Unfortunately a few of the bigger names making the $215r final table were unable to mount much of a charge. Chris “herdgolf86” Tipper and Joe “ender555” Ebanks, two well known professionals, finished in 6th and 8th place respectively. Tipper took home just under $8,000 for his efforts, way behind his biggest score, a $102,663 win in the Super Sunday on FullTilt in February. Ebanks, currently ranked 11th in the world by a major tournament site, has shipped the $109r on Stars and nearly won the $500k in August, taking 3rd for $48,000. Runner-up this week, “MaltLiquor40”, has won the $109r numerous times and has over $500,000 in earnings on PokerStars alone. Eventual champion “MSUJenny” has had some past success on Stars, taking 2nd in the $109r in July for just under $18,000.

Wrapping-up a big day of events on PokerStars was the Sunday Second Chance. The $200,000 guaranteed event gives all tournament grinders one last shot at glory and a big Sunday pay-day. Taking full advantage of this opportunity was “SFisch4” and “hotstuff38”. SFisch4 seemed to be the more experienced of the two, as he/she has had quite a large amount of success on PokerStars, shipping the Quarter Million in June as well as the $109r last year. Hotstuff38 has seen a lot of success at lower stakes, and with this 2nd place finish nearly reached the $500,000 in winnings on PokerStars. The final hand was a bit eventful, as SFisch4’s AQ outran AK for the title:

FullTilt had another solid day of Sunday Majors, including a bit of a boost to their $750k, as they raised the buy-in (from $216 to $530) and the guarantee (from $750k to $1M) making it the 2nd biggest event of the day. The Brawl continues to roll on, as it was able to amass another $500,000+ prize pool, with 2,606 entrants. In fact, with the bigger $750k buy-in, the Brawl was the biggest major event on FullTilt entries-wise. Over 20 FullTilt sponsored professionals played in the Brawl including Mike “Timex” McDonald, Lee Watkinson, and Marco Liesy. Chad “M8kingmoves” Bautista made the final table but busted early, taking 6th (as jse81) for just under $18,000. The well-known, albeit controversial, poker pro is an online force, having six $20k+ scores to his name including a win in the $200k re-buy on FullTilt in February for nearly $85,000.

For the first time in a while a FullTilt Professional won a Sunday Major. Vivek Rajkuamr, winner of the WPT Bograta Open for $1,424,500, was able to take down the $1M post-chop for $180,000. Other big names making deep runs were Brian “Stinger88” Hastings who finished in 77th and Michael Craig who took 52nd. This was by far and away Rajkumar’s biggest online score, crushing his $18,188 cash for winning the $65k last December.

Rounding out another nice day of tournament action on FullTilt was the appropriately named Sunday Mulligan. Matthew “all in at 420” Stout made the final table, busting in 7th for just under $8,000. Stout is a well-known professional most recognizable for his victories in the $500k, Second Chance, and $215r on PokerStars. He also won the $1k Monday on FullTilt last week for $85,750. A true sign that some online sites rankings are a bit off, he is not even considered a top-100 tournament professional!
