A big weekend in online poker tournaments has come to an end.  Bolstering tournaments across the board was the start of FTOPS XIV, FullTilt’s bi-annual tournament series.  There were three events finishing up late last night, for more thorough reports on Events 8, 9, and 10, please visit the FlopTurnRiver News Section for complete write-ups on the winners.

PokerStars seemed to benefit from FTOPS XIV, as all of their major tournaments easily bested their respective guarantees yesterday. Sunday started with the $750k Warm-Up which has been obliterating its guarantee as of late. This week was no exception, as the Warm-Up once again exceeded a $900,000 prize pool, as more than 4,500 players entered the early-afternoon event.

The final three players decided upon a deal, leaving only $10,000 on the table after all was said and done. Heads-up play came down to “jackson18249” and “DaHussstla”. The experience edge had to be with jackson18249, as he had final-tabled a major in the past, taking 3rd in the Mulligan in July for over $35,000. DaHussstla appeared unfazed by his opponent, as he was able to take down the extra $10,000 when he won the quintessential flip, AJ vs. 99:

The Sunday Million is out of the dog house for one week. For one of the few times this entire year, the Million was not chopped yesterday! That’s right, there would be a $200,000+ winner and that honor went to “Justin1836”. Making this even more special, was the fact that this was his first ever $10,000+ recorded score. Justin outlasted Nick “agriffrod” Mitchell for the win and over $236,000. Mitchell, a top-100 ranked professional, took home $173,514 for 2nd place. This was the 19th five-figure score of his career, besting his previous high cash, a $66,200 prize. Below are the final-table stacks, bust-out hands, and non-chop adjusted pay-outs:

The Sunday 500 had perhaps the best final table of any event yesterday, as Kevin “BeL0WaB0Ve” Saul made a deep run, eventually getting heads-up with Alex “BoyArgentina” Queen. Both players have had a nice amount of success online, Queen’s coming at the hands of a 2nd place finish in the Warm-Up in April for nearly $70,000. Saul has been crushing live and online tournaments for some time. He nearly won the WCOOP High-Roller Event in September, taking 3rd for over $337,000. He also won a FTOPS Event in August for over $57,000. Even with those scores, his live success has been even greater. In 2007 he won the WPT Bellagio Cup III, beating Mike Matusow heads-up for a $1,342,320 first place prize. Earlier this year he final tabled the PCA, taking 8th for $214,000.

A tough final hand gave Queen the victory and the biggest score of his career, a shade over $92,000:

The Sunday $215 rebuy had plenty of familiar faces making the final table. One of the world’s more controversial tournament professionals, Chad “lilholdem954” Bautista, was on hand and finished in 4th place for just under $19,000. Bautista now has over $2,000,000 in cashes on PokerStars alone, including 17 $20k+ scores, most of which have come from wins in the $109r. In fact Bautista might just hold the record for wins in the $109r with a mind-boggling 16 victories. Joining him was $215r final-table resident Thorladen. Thor seems to make the final table of this event every other week, and has won it twice in the past, both times for more than $50,000. Speaking of records, this was the 11th time Thorladen has been at the $215r final table, which also must be an all-time high.

Taking home the title was “dj_ponytale”, a high-stakes tourney professional who nearly won the Sunday500 a year ago, taking second for $66,858. The $45,756 first-place check was only the 4th biggest score of his career on PokerStars, behind the Sunday500 runner-up and two scores in $320 events. Finally, top-50 ranked “rivermanl” once again made a deep run in the $215r, this time taking home 3rd place and just over $25,000.

Finishing off a big days of online tournaments on PokerStars was the Sunday Second Chance. The $200,000 guaranteed event continues to crush its guarantee, as once again the tournament easily exceeded $250,000! A former winner of the Sunday500, “hummylun”, was able to ship another Sunday major yesterday, as he won the Second Chance for just over $50,000. This score helped him cross the $500,000 plateau in earnings on PokerStars alone. In the crazy story of the week category, 3rd place finisher “Carrwreck11” admitted to only having $22 in his account just a few days before taking down a big score yesterday.

FullTilt Professionals were out in “full” force in FTOPS Event #8 yesterday, as nearly 40 played in the $240+$16 6max KO tournament. Former WSOP Champion Huck Seed was on hand, as was 5-time bracelet winner Allen Cunningham, and WPT Champion David Chiu. Fourth place finisher “loli82” won this very event (the Sunday Brawl) in March for over $97,000. Heads-up play was uneventful, as “elheroe” and “nirvanakc” decided to chop, as each player split right around $142,000. For a more in-depth write-up on the final table festivities check out BooG690’s blog post here.

Taking the place of the $750k Guaranteed was the $320 $1.5M Guaranteed FTOPS Event #10. For once, FullTilt nearly bested the Sunday Million on PokerStars, but ultimately fell short by just $20,000! Much like Event #8, some of the steam was taken out of the final table by a heads-up chop, handing $222k to “Jakivi” and $228k to “rakeinfools”. It’s hard to blame either of these players for making a deal, as neither had a $10,000+ score to their name on FullTilt prior to these huge cashes. That is what poker tournaments are all about, big scores and big fields.

The Sunday Mulligan continues to roll along, as the tournament saw a nice boost from FTOPS XIV, coming close to the prize pool of the Second Chance on PokerStars. Fifteen FullTilt sponsored professionals were on hand, including Stuart Paterson, Aaron Bartley, and David Pham. Making the deepest run of all the pros was Christian Kruel, who actually made the final table, before busting in 9th place for a little over $4,000.
