The state of online MTTs seems to be improving as another big Sunday went by with the Majors collecting momentum and gaining more and more entrants.  This past Sunday was definitely one for the Professionals as a lot of big name players made final tables and went on to victory.  “THE_D_RY” took down the Sunday Million while PokerStars Pros Andre “aakkari” Akkari and Gavin Griffin and well-known pro “gboro70” all battled it out in the Sunday 500.

What better way to start the day than with the $750,000 Guaranteed Sunday Warm-Up.  Nearly 3900 players got their day going in the $200+$15 event that ended up paying over $101,000 to first place and eventual champion “Cobus83”.  Once again the Final Table had a great mixture of foreigners, including players from Canada, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, and Greece.  Having so many players from across the world is just another sign of poker’s global reach. Here were the chip counts heading into the final table:

Seat 1: Kameleont (8690525 in chips)
Seat 2: Powergolf (2952791 in chips)
Seat 3: fffffs (6535376 in chips)
Seat 4: NewsKoooL (5100647 in chips)
Seat 5: Cobus83 (6271711 in chips)
Seat 6: Mr nOmadsen (2438436 in chips)
Seat 7: IDOLLS (1346112 in chips)
Seat 8: Cassidy13 (4193730 in chips)
Seat 9: Trueblue333 (1460672 in chips)

The final three would come down to “Cobus83”, “Cassidy13”, and “fffffs”.   Immediately after becoming three-handed the players agreed to the following deal that would leave $10,000 on the table:

Cobus83: $83,819
fffffs: $68,210
Cassidy13: $56,314

First to go would be fffffs when his TT fell to Cassidy13’s AJo on a Jc9sJhAc board.  He would take home $68,210 for a long days work.  Heads-Up started with both players holding similar chip stacks; however, that did not mean a lengthy finish, as heads-up play took only a fistful of hands.  Cobus83 would “outlast” Cassidy13 when his AQo held up against A7s on a 4hJhKcKs2h board, leaving Cassidy out in second place for $56,314, about $14,000 less than the typical 2nd place payout.

A tournament that always brings out the biggest names in online poker is the $200+$15 Re-buy Event.  The $200,000 Guarantee Tournament takes a lot of nerve, skill, and sometimes a little luck to win.  This week 321 players re-bought 571 times for $200 a piece as well as 208 took advantage of the first breaks 3000 chip add-on for another $200.  In the end it meant a $220,000 prize pool with $45,100 going to first place.  For those thinking first place seems small, don’t forget that Stars dropped the guarantee of this event from $250,000 to $200,000 a month ago due to poor turn-out or from lack or re-buys.

Heads-Up play did not take long as “Belebacsi” would win a huge cooler when he flopped a straight and his opponent, “Numb Nutzzzz” unfortunately turned a set of sixes.  The big pot would leave Nutzzzz with very little chips and he would bust just two hands later:

Belabacsi is a highly-ranked Tournament player who actually finished 2nd in the first $215r of November.  He now has more than a dozen five-figure scores to his name, his biggest two coming in this event alone.  Chris “fisheater” Walsh who took down the Second Chance two weeks ago came in third for nearly $25,000.  He has had quite the November, with two wins on Full Tilt, the Second Chance, and this Score he is now over $100,000 in tournament earnings for the month.

Now, for the Main Event of the evening, the $1,500,000 Guaranteed Sunday Million.  For once we actually had some respectable tournament players/names at the Final Table.  “THE_D_RY”, “Stamdogg”, and “A_Ivanovich” are all proven winners in the online tournament scene and making the final table certainly helps to cement that reputation.  Let’s take a look at the chip counts entering the final table:

Seat 1: A_Ivanovich (6723250 in chips)

First to go was one of the shorter stacks entering the final table, “hikkespett”.   The Norwegian is also no secret to success, having had a nice run in mid/high-stakes buy-in tournaments for some time now.  He has victories in teh FullTilt $55k and $65k this year as well as a win in the nightly $100k on PokerStars.  For the first time in a while this cash ($10,857) was not a player’s biggest cash ever!

Along with THE_D_RY, Stammdogg had to be considered on of the best two players at the final table, and like all great players he knows how to suck out!   After the flop Stammdogg was a 96% underdog, but that didn’t stop the Ts and 7h from rolling off, giving him a straight and busting the top set from Ivanovich leaving him out in 8th place for $17,837.

The_D_RY would be the next to display what it takes to win a major tournament, the art of winning flips.  His AKo would out-run the 66 from “thebosshead” giving THE_D_RY a nice chip stack and leaving thebosshead with just a few chips:

Stammdogg would eventually become the shortstack and would get his money in quite well as “Major_BomB” would openshove from the SB for about 9BBs effective with 45s and he would fortunately outflop Stammdogg’s KQo.  Stammdogg takes homes $39,551 for 6th place:

Next to go was “Verichip”who would bust in 5th for $55,061 who would shove KQo from UTG only to run into the AJo from “xfadmos666”.  The flop would leave very little hope and Verichip would have to settle for for fifth:

Getting this deep in the Million only to fall short has got to be painfu.  However it soon became a reality for “Major_BomB”, second in chips coming into the Final Table.  Once again the art of winning flips was on display; however, this time the pocket pair would hold, giving “parachuting” the hand and busting BomB in 4th for $70,571:

Down to the final three, THE_D_RY had to be considered a heavy favorite, and once he assumed a 3:1 chip lead on each player it seemed as if it was a mere formality before the tournmaent was over.  First to go was final table chip leader parachuting who could not find a fold with KJo and failed to improve on the river against THE_D_RY leaving him out of chips and out in 3rd, taking home $86,856 for his deep run:

Next up is the ever-growing Sunday 500,  the $500+$30 buy-in $500,000 Guaranteed Event had been gaining serious steam, however this week it fell 5 players short of the guarantee, forcing Start to add $2500 of their own to the prize pool.  What this tournament lacked in players it picked up in talent.  The final four had three of the best tournament players in the world, including two PokerStars Pros.  Gavin Griffin and Andre Akkari were joined by gboro780 who seems to be on our list every week. Gboro780 would bow out in 4th for $37,500, leaving Griffin and Akkari battling for 1st place and the $91,250 at stake.  In the end it was Akkari who would win on a huge cooler, flopping a flush against Griffin’s straight:

Full Tilt had started to see bigger turn outs as of late; however, the $750k fell over $21,000 short of reaching it’s guarantee, forcing FullTilt to dip into its deep pockets and add to the prize pool.  Here were the chip counts entering the final table:

Seat 1: Wasaki coke (2,922,488)
Seat 2: MicoTX (2,378,925)
Seat 3: PXFACTOR (659,391)
Seat 4: Davidp18 (960,824)
Seat 5: spandit (1,028,310)

Seat 7: Embetant (1,060,325)
Seat 8: DNA2RNA (566,747)
Seat 9: PeppermintHippo (326,852)

As you can see MicoTX would have the chip lead and he would never relinquish it, going wire-to-wire for the victory and over $132,000 in first place money.   Here is the final hand:

Seat 1: Wasaki coke (1,368,704)

A tough beat for “Wasaki coke” who was severely out-chipped and could have certainly used the double up.  Fortunately for him he has 80,250 reasons to not be so upset.

The Sunday Brawl is always an action packed event with the added incentive of $40 going to a player for each person he/she knocks out.   This Sunday 1931 players smashed the $350k guarantee, generating a $386,200 prize pool of which nearly $80,000 went to first.  A “somewhat” familiar name would take down the crown, “Julian Verse” fresh off his win in the FTOPS X Main Event took home first and just over $79,000.  That completes quite a great month for the pro.  Twelve of FullTilt’s Red Pro’s would play but only one would make the money, “R Romanello”.

The last big event of the day is always the Sunday Mulligan.  The $200+$16 buy-in tournament  gave 1018 players one last chance at a big score.  Big name pro “charder30” made it all the way to heads-up play but was unable to seal the deal as two hands would make the difference.  “Drunk mashimaro” would prove that folding is definitely overrated in tournaments with a hero call on the turn against charder30’s flush draw.  He would then finish him off just one hand later:
