The final Sunday of a month, one last shot for all the MTT grinders, pros, and fish alike to hit that one big score.  With 10 tournaments boasting $50,000+ 1st-place prizes, it would be a wild and crazy day.   There would be no short-coming of professionals on Sunday, with many big names hitting huge scores along the way.

Getting the day started was the Sunday Warm-Up.  The $750,000 Guarantee tournament was sure to wake everyone up for a long day of major tournament grinding. 4066 entrants easily broke through the guarantee, creating a $105,000+ first-place check. Let’s take a look at the final two bust-outs:

I think it’s safe to say one must have a little luck on their side to win such a big tournament, and “Yankees31” was no exception.   For his hard day’s work, Yankees31 takes home $105,716 for first while “frost10000” would have to settle for $73,1888 and second place.  This was by far and away Yankees31’s biggest score, having only two other 5-figure cashes to his name before this victory.

The one difference the last Sunday holds is that it hosts the monthly Turbo-Takedown on PokerStars.  The only way to gain entry into the event is to pay with Frequent-Player-Points, or FPPs for short.  5,000 FPPs, roughly translating into a $50 buy-in, is all it takes to have a shot at the $100,000 first place prize and the million dollar prize pool.  In the end “Higote” from Spain was able to out last a final table full of Americans and take home the crown.  High-stakes cash game pro “rivermanl” would make the final table, but have to settle for 8th place, and $10,000.

As always, the Sunday Million highlights our report.  There were many big names making deep runs in the million. However, only one would make it to the final table.  Peter “Twirlpr” Turmezey, also known as “breeth” is a top-10 ranked MTT-Pro and was the class on the final table.  Let’s take a look at the stack sizes entering the final 9:

Heading out in 7th was “ankolo” who once again proved that JJ isn’t as strong of a hand as one might think.  That little bit of knowledge might have helped him win more than $28,003 at the final table:

The final five would be a shoot-out, and the first to go was “Terkel1,” one of the shorter stacks entering the final table. He made a valiant effort, moving up the pay scale nicely and finally settling for 5th place and $56,807 when his A6o could not hold against Twirlpro:

The final three would take some time, and chip-chops would be discussed. In the end, terms could not be settled upon and play would continue.  “NewsKoooL” entered the final table short on chips, but worked his way up to 3rd place and a $89,611 cash, finally succumbing to twirlpro’s luckbox and another come from behind victory:

The Sunday 500 saw a drop in participation this week, but certainly not a drop in Final Table talent. The one and only PokerStars Pro “barryg1” made the final Table.  For those who do not know the “Robin Hood of Poker,” Barry Greenstein is quite the philanthropist, donating the majority of his tournament winnings to charity.  He is also a highly accomplished cash-game pro, taking on the biggest mixed games in the world.  Here were the stacks entering the final table:

Finishing a big day of Sunday Majors at PokerStars is the “Second Chance” which gives everyone one last shot at a nice score.  The $200+$15 buy-in tournament attracted 1380 participants, easily breaking the $250,000 guarantee.  Here were the stacks entering the final table:
