Another Sunday is in the books with a lot of big names making nice runs in the majors.  It seems every Sunday more and more big names are making their way to the top of these huge fields, and it is only a matter of time until a top-ranked Pro takes down a Sunday Major.  PokerStars and Full Tilt continue to lead the way in Sunday tournaments, with huge guarantees and enormous fields. It would seem these two sites have separated themselves from their competition.

Changing things up this week, let’s start with the three Full Tilt majors: the $750k, Brawl, and Mulligan.  The “Sunday Brawl” is a knock-out style tournament, awarding players $40 for each competitor they eliminate.  The $240+$16 buy-in, $350,000 guaranteed tournament always attracts a large field of professionals and amateur players.  This week 1,919 players combined to create a $383,800 prize pool, $79,062 of which went to eventual champion Jeff “GrampaJeff” Gray who seems to be finding his name in our report a lot recently.  Gray, who already has an FTOPS jersey avatar (awarded for winners of FTOPS events) and multiple wins in the PokerStars $109r took home first place after dominating the final table.  Here’s the final hand:

Full Tilt’s biggest tournament every Sunday is the $750,000 Guarantee, a $200+$16 buy-in which brings out all the heavy-hitters in both online and live poker.  33 Full Tilt “red pros” were on hand to compete for the $132,787 first place check.  WSOP Player of the year Allen Cunningham, WPT Champion David “the dragon” Pham, and online superstar PearlJammer (PeralJammed) all played.  Making the deepest run of the pros was Steve Brecher who finished in 19th for $2,775.  In the end Eric “basebaldy” Baldwin would take home the title, edging out “playnwithnada” in what amounted to a $52,000 heads-up SNG.  Basebaldy has been on quite the run lately, having won the $100k on Bodog twice this year and the $65k on Full Tilt in April.  Overall he has 9 five-figure scores to his name, which is quite a feat in today’s online landscape.  Here are the final table stacks and results:

PokerStars ran their typical slew of Sunday majors, of which we’ll cover the Warm-Up, Million, Second Chance, 500, and $215r.  All of these events attract the biggest and best fields because of PokerStars’ great structure, software, and levels of competition.  Getting the day going as always in the Sunday Warm-Up. The $750,000 guarantee tournament rivals FullTilt’s biggest major, and it’s just the first one of the day! 3751 players entered, just ONE more than what is necessary to reach the guarantee.  In the end, it was “Shotgun7811” who would out last another very good player, “eatyourstac,” for first place and $101,277 in first place money.  Shotgun7811 is not known for winning majors, with his previous best cash being a $13,300 score in a $55 buy-in event. However, I’m sure we’ll see a lot more from him in the future after this win. FlopTurnRiver member “busto_soon” entered the final table 2nd in chips but would lose a huge pot early and go out in 9th place, for a mere $6,752.

The Sunday500 has become an event which always produces a final table chalk-full of huge names.  “Pipedream17,” who has made our report before, is a big online-MTT name along with “Jovial Gent” and short-stacker “FatalError.”  Unfortunately, only 929 players showed up for the event, creating a large amount of overlay of about $35,000.  Here were the final table stacks:

Seat 1: simon1471 (1318951 in chips)
Seat 2: Neubi205 (834797 in chips)
Seat 3: Jovial Gent (1217431 in chips)

Seat 7: Pipedream17 (437030 in chips)
Seat 8: Big_Nemo (2014088 in chips)
Seat 9: hellzito (479591 in chips)

Heads-up would come down to Pipedream17 and “CHATTON1” who would eventually agree to a chop after a long discussion over $1-$2k.  CHATTON1 would take $83,000 for first and Pipedream17 would accept $75,000 for second:

9. Mercuria – $3,640

Last, and somewhat least, was Bodog’s $100k guarantee, $100+$9 buy-in tournament.  This week only 702 players entered, leaving $29,800 in overlay.  Taking down first place and the customary $23,600 was “woodhawk.”
