This past Sunday marked a big day in online tournaments as PokerStars and FullTilt both had huge days in their major events. FullTilt, never the one to sit on their laurels, decided to up the ante this week with double guarantees in all of their tournaments. This meant instead of the $400k Brawl, $750k Guarantee, and $200k Mulligan it was the $800k Brawl, $1.5M Guarantee, and $400k Mulligan running.  This allowed FullTilt to have two of four biggest events of the day including the biggest tournament, the $1,500,000 Guarantee which saw it’s prize pool rise to more than $2,000,000.

Sunday was kicked off by the $750,000 guaranteed Warm-Up on PokerStars. The day’s earliest starting event is typically highlighted by players from across the globe. With no Sunday football on the tube the Warm-Up was nearly able to hit the $1,000,000 prize pool mark. Still, with more than 4,800 players in the field there was nearly $500,000 up for grabs at the final table alone. Highlighting the final table was eventual runner-up “mistakooll” who is known as “Kadabra” to the online poker world. His $113,331 cash was the fourth six-figure score of his career which included a victory in SCOOP Event #23 last year for more than $245,000. Eventual winner “dr.greenish” took down easily the biggest score of his career on PokerStars when he hit a 4 outer on the river against mistakooll’s set for the win and a $152,177 cash.

The best final table of the day is typically reserved for either the Sunday500 or the Sunday $215 re-buy.  However, yesterday that honor went to one of the biggest events of the day, the Sunday Million on PokerStars.  Four well known professionals on hand vying for a first place check in excess of a quarter million dollars. Headlining the table was arguably the best female poker player in the world and Team PokerStars member Vanessa Selbst.  She was joined by high stakes professional Justin “zeejustin” Bonomo, former PCA champion Ryan “Duat44” Daut, and Anthony “wwwBTHEREcom” Gregg.

In the end Gregg and Daut made it down to three handed player before a chop killed a lot of the action. With $30,000 left on the table Gregg and Daut battled it out for the remaining money with Gregg coming out on top for a $195,000 cash. The Sunday $500k has seen some nice growth since the 2011 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure ended. It seemed a lot of the high-stakes MTT professionals were enjoying their time in the Bahamas instead of grinding online events. Who could blame them?  With a lot of attention on the Sunday Million Final Table there were still plenty of solid professionals vying for a $92,225 first place prize in the Sunday500. Runner-Up Stian “JohnnyBelow” Stabell is a highly ranked online professional with a handful of $50k+ scores to his name. He has won the Sunday Brawl, $215 re-buy, and Wednesday Quarter Million before but it was the $67,813 cash he picked up in the $500k that rates as the biggest score of his career. Stabell was unable to defeat John “JRD312” Dolan for the title.  Dolan is best known for being a member of the 2010 WSOP November Nine where he finished in 6th place for more than $1,700,000.

Much like the Sunday500 the $215 re-buy took a backseat to the tremendous number of professionals at the Sunday Million final table.  A few names well known to the STR kept the railbirds busy as Paul “ComeOnPhish” Lieu, a high-stakes limit professional, David “dpeters17” Peters, and Nicolas “PKaiser” Fierro were all part of the last six players battling it out for a $32,250 payday.  Unfortunately none of those three made it down to heads-up which came down to “LoneHixx” and “mslunchmoney” for a difference of $9,000. In the end it was LoneHixx’s KJo which got it in well ahead of KTo. After flopping top two the tournament was pretty much over as LoneHixx secured a nice $32,250 victory.

He has a handful of six-figure scores to his name including a victory in the Sunday Brawl last March for more than $109,000. He has also won the $109r, $1k Monday, and $250k on Party Poker. As mentioned before FullTilt doubled every tournament’s guarantee this past week including their three Sunday majors, the Brawl, $750k, and Mulligan. The Brawl saw a huge impact taking it’s prize pool up and over the $1,000,000 mark. In fact, with more than 8,700 players it was nearly bigger than every event on PokerStars. Still, a $1,753,200 prize pool is nothing to scoff at. There were plenty of FullTilt’s finest on hand including Allen Cunningham, Stuart Paterson, and 4th place finisher Damian Salas. Salas joined a solid final table that included Kory “sootedjoker89” Kilpatrick, Aaron “SpanishKey” Been and “Supa4real”. The tournament was eventually chopped by Been and David “Sonelin” Sonelin. Both players took home over a quarter million dollars with Sonelin actually earning the most despite his runner-up status.

The Sunday $750k saw it’s prize pool doubled and it’s player pool nearly quadrupled Sunday as more than 14,000 players entered the day’s biggest event. With a massive $2,881,800 prize pool one has to wonder why FullTilt has not raised the guarantee in the past! Plenty of FullTilt professionals made a run at the $439,878 first place prize but alas none could make the final table. Some of the bigger names on hand included Adam Schoenfeld, John Dolan, and Svetlana Gromenkova.  The final table had some big time online professionals on hand including David “Doc Sands” Sands and Nick “agriffrod” Mitchell.  The railbirds were treated to a fight to the finish as “BtCh I MiTe Be” took on “StepRightUp” for nearly $150,00 in difference between first and second. BtCh I MiTe Be nearly won the MSOP in 2009 but more than made up for it this past Sunday as he took down the $1,5000,000 Guaranteed crown for an epic $439,878 score.

The Sunday Mulligan finished off a huge day at FullTilt. It seems the double guarantee promotion was a roaring success as every event just absolutely demolished their past records. The Mulligan attracted more than 3,400 players which left it as the 5th biggest event of the day behind the Warm-Up, Brawl, Million, and $1.5M Guaranteed. It usually falls well behind the $500k and Second Chance in 8th place for the day. There were plenty of FullTilt pros on hand including Vivek Rajkumar, Soren Kongsgaard, Scott Clements, and Ryan Daut. However, much like the $1.5M Guarantee none could make a run to the final table.  In the end it was “domdor1” who outlasted “achen” for the title and a nice $137,680 payday.
