With FTOPS XI coming to an end there were a bunch of big buy-in, large guarantee poker tournaments running Sunday.  PokerStars upped the ante by making their Million a $2.5M Guarantee (typically $1.5M) and the Sunday Warm-Up a $1.25M Guarantee (typically $750k Guaranteed) and FullTilt would run three FTOPS events (2-day event, Main Event, and $120 KO Event) along with the Sunday Mulligan.  All in all this Sunday had about as much action as a tournament grinder could ask for.

The day started with the completion of FTOPS Event #22.  The $5,000+$200 buy-in, two-day tournament hosted 500 of the world’s best online poker players.  FlopTurnRiver will be covering the event in its entirety in a different news entry. A lot of big names made the final table including “holla-atcha-boy,” “gboro780,” and “Roothlus.”  After all the dust settled it was “fyrtuk,” a relatively unknown player whose biggest cash up to this date was just over $20,000 in the $1M Guarantee on FullTilt.

The $120+$9 Knock-Out event replaced the Sunday Brawl.   The lower buy-in attracted a huge field of 9,061 players, created just over a $906,000 prize pool.  39 FullTilt Red Professionals entered the event with Michael Tureniec and Marco Liesy both making deep runs inside the top-100.  Some other the bigger named pros playing were Mike Matusow, Andrew Black, and Isaac Baron.  Unfortunately for the railbirds there were no well-known names making final table runs.  In the end it came down to “girlyhurly” and “AAs to QQs” with girlyhurly coming out on top.  Here’s the final hand and results:

The Sunday Mulligan finished a long time before the final table of the FTOPS Main Event began. There were some big names making deep runs including “UFman2,” “THAY3R,” and “Thorladen.”  Unfortunately only one of them made the final table, THAY3R, and he had to settle for 9th place.  FullTilt Professional Roy Winston made a final table appearance but went out early, busting in 7th place.  In the end the battle for over $66,000 was left to “Hesperides” and “DressedinBlack.”  The play went back and forth with Hesperides ultimately taking home the title.  This was one of many deep runs for the champion has he has a 2nd place finish in the Brawl and the $80k re-buy on FullTilt.

PokerStars 25 billion hand celebration ended this Sunday with a huge prize to the winner of the hand plus some bigger guarantee tournaments.  The Sunday Warm-Up and Million both saw a ton of money added to their respective prize pools causing huge entry numbers and an overall lagging of the PokerStars server.  Once everything settled down there was a ton of money to play for.

The Sunday Warm-Up, typically a $750,000 Guarantee attracting somewhere in the neighborhood of 4,000 entrants saw 6,241 people enter today.   This meant PokerStars was 9 players short of reaching its guarantee, forcing the site to pay out a measly $1800 in overlay.  The final table appeared void of any big names, as “FatalError” busted in 15th place.  When all was said and done the heads-up match came down to “Mug 1515” and “oscarleon.”  Both players started heads-up play virtually even and decided upon an even chop, with $20k left for first, eventually won by Mug 1515.

PokerStars Sunday Warm-Up $1.25M Guaranteed
6,241 Entrants; $1,250,000 prize pool

The Sunday500 continues to grow into one of the biggest prize pools every Sunday.  This week 1,163 entrants created a $581,500 prize pool with nearly $105,000 going to the eventual winner, “PearlHammer.”  There were some notable names making deep runs including high-stakes SNG and Cash game pro “Genius28” and final tablist “mrvogt.”  Mrvogt has a fourth place finish in the Sunday Million and a win in the $109r on PokerStars alone.  Playing on FullTilt under the same moniker he won FTOPS Event #3 this past November.  Fortunately for the final table field he never picked up any momentum and busted in 5th place.  Heads-Up play came down to “catostar” and PearlHammer.  Eventually PearlHammer would get the best of his opponent when his Aces held against a big draw:

The $200 re-buy has been easily beating its $200k guarantee lately.  This week 360 players re-bought 590 times and 246 took advantage of the first break add-on to create a $239,200 prize pool with $46,444 going to first.  High-stakes cash game professional ADZ124 appears on our report for the second straight week along with other well known pros “bufo523,” “Jagz7” and “drag0nslay3r.”  The favorites entering the final table had to be “JohnnyBelow,” a top-ranked online MTT professional as well as “Moorman1,” one of the best players in the world.  JohnnyBelow has two major wins to his name including the Sunday Brawl and Wednesday Quarter Million.  JohnnyBelow made it all the way to heads-up play against “TWOBE1ASK1” and just could not pull out the victory.

The Sunday Million was tough to follow this week.  With the 25 billion hand celebration going on the PokerStars server started to lag.  The report will reflect the final table bust out hands it was able to retrieve.  It appears that 7-handed a deal was struck, which, once again could prove why a deal at major final tables should not be allowed.  The final 7 played for $30k for the eventual winner.  Here are the final table stacks, elimination hands, and results.

The final event of the day was the PokerStars Sunday Second Chance.  This week nearly 1800 players entered created a prize pool of almost $360,000.  There were some well-known names making the final table including “ozenc” and “michaelsc.” Here were the stacks entering the final table:

Heads-Up play came down to ozenc and “danskermann.”  Ozenc is no stranger to success in this tournament, having won the title just four months ago.  He also has a victory in a $500 HORSE Event on FullTilt for over $70,000. Danskemann is also an accomplished high-stakes tournament grinder with two victories in the PokerStars $109r including one this Sunday.  He had a chance for a $100,000 day if he could pull off the win in the Second Chance, but unfortunately he had to settle for second as ozenc was just too much:
