The Sunday Mulligan on FullTilt saw a nice boost in participation this week with 1,400 entrants creating a $280,000 prize pool.  For the first time in a while a FullTilt Red Pro took down a Sunday Major.  Matt Vengrin, an unheralded professional sporting an FTOPS Gold Jersey was able to hold off a final table including “negroblanco” and “max_pot” for the victory.  Vengrin, also known as “Plattsburgh” has won the Sunday Million and the $215r on PokerStars.  Here’s the final hand:

PokerStars was able to maintain excellent participation numbers despite three FTOPS events running at the same time.  First up, as always, was the Sunday Warm-Up.  The biggest name making it to the final table was D1rtyR1v3r, one of the top-ranked online professionals around.  This cash was his 31st 5-figure score of his online career and his biggest.  Unfortunately he had to settle for 3rd place and just under $47,000.  “Watte” and “Big4aday” were able to make it to heads-up play and agreed on a chop which left $10,000 on the table.  Eventually Watte was able to take over the chiplead and went on to “win” the tournament by a mere $1,000.  Up until this point neither player had made much noise on PokerStars lately, making these huge cashes a welcome sight.

PokerStars Sunday Warm-Up $750k Guaranteed

The Sunday500 saw a large rise in entrants this week as the tournament easily passed it’s guarantee. 1205 players paid the $500+$30 buy-in, creating a $602,500 prize pool.  As always there were plenty of big names making deep runs.  Making their presence felt at the final table were cash game specialist “holla@yoboy” and well known tournament profressional “akat11”.  Unfortunately both players were eliminated in the middle of the pack, finishing 4th and 5th respectively.  There was a three-way chop, unfortunately the numbers have escaped this report.  Heads-Up came down to “kevboystar” and “BobbyFi”.  BobbyFi has had much success on PokerStars in the past, including a victory in the $1k Monday for $68,250. KevBoyStar was nearly as fortunate in the same tournament, however, he had to settle for a 2nd place finish and just under $50,000.  Here’s the final hand and payouts:

Even though FTOPS ran 3 events today, including a $500 buy-in, PokerStars still boasted the tournament with the largest prize pool.   8748 players created just under a $1,750,000 pool, $211,876 of which was supposed to go to first place.  As has been happening with a disturbing frequency lately there was another final table chop at the million.  This week the chop came very early, with 6 players still left.  The biggest name at the final table was young high-stakes cash game professional ADZ124.  He was fortunate enough to hit a 3-outer early during the final table which allowed him to be 2nd in chips once the chop happened. “mozitas” who went out in 9th place finished 2nd in the Stars Sunday 500 last month.  Here are the final table stacks, bust-out hands, and payouts:

The Second Chance also saw a nice boost in number of entrants, with 1686 players creating a $337,200 prize pool.  Talented tourney professional “VerySexual” made a deep run but busted on the final table bubble.  His elimination left “xxjondxx” as the biggest name at the final table.  Jon had 8 $20k+ scores coming into the final table and did not disappoint, getting to heads-up play and eventually taking home the title. This was the biggest score of his career by $21,000. Runner-Up “CPT CRUX” is no stranger to deep runs in this event. Last July he made a similar run only to fall short as well, finishing in 3rd place for just over $38,000.  Here’s the final hand and payouts:

The final event of the day is the $215 re-buy on PokerStars.  This week 356 players re-bought 624 times and 254 of them took advantage of the add-on at the first break.  All in all a $246,800 prize pool was created.  “USCPhildo” who was busy making a deep run in an FTOPS event made a short appearance at the final table before busting in 9th.  Finishing in 8th was “Randers”, a tournament professional who won a WCOOP event this past September.  Brian “SNo0oWMAN” Hawkins made it all the way to heads-up play before busting in 2nd place, good for just over $36,000.   Feeling sorry for the runner-up in this case in extremely different as in January 2008 he took down the Sunday Million for over $278,000 in prize money.  Eventual champion “nofingclue11” is also no stranger to Sunday Million success as he has a 5th place finish in the event for just over $59,000.  Here’s the final hand and payouts:
