Online poker tournaments again saw an uptick in attendance, as some of the biggest fields of 2012 were amassed yesterday. With sites like PokerStars, Bwin, and iPoker all having great days, it seems online tournaments have fully recovered from last year’s crackdown on online poker.  For the most part, all major events are back near (or even exceeding) their entrant and prize pool numbers from a year ago.  Even with that improvement, it appears the major sites are not planning on slowing things down any time soon. PokerStars will be running a Turbo “Micro Millions” series starting March 15th. With 100 events ranging from $.10 to $22 buy-ins, the series will have a little bit of everything for the small-stakes grinder.

The European sites are also looking for big things come this summer. Attendance is really picking up on the iPoker Network as evidenced by the strong showing in their $200k championship yesterday.  For an event that had been struggling a bit as of late, more than 1,100 players and a $233,200 prize pool was a great remedy.  One of their competitors, Bwin Poker, continues to run the biggest non-PokerStars event of each Sunday. Their $300,000 guarantee Champion-Chip event actually surpassed the $400k mark for the first time in a while.  Even better, the more than 2,100 in attendance was another high for the year. It seems like even though Stars might be the world’s number 1, there is quite the race between Party Poker, iPoker, and Bwin for the second spot.
