With Easter Sunday coinciding with SCOOP, some wondered how much of a hit PokerStars’ Main Event and $25K HU Event would take attendance-wise.  Fortunately for the site the majority of the SCOOP events made their guarantees while their normal Sunday tournaments suffered slightly.  FlopTurnRiver is bringing updates on all the major SCOOP events so this report will focus on the PokerStars Warm-Up, Second Chance, and $215r along with the three Sunday Majors on FullTilt.

The Sunday Warm-Up gave everyone gearing up for a big day of SCOOP Main Events a chance to get a tournament under their belt.  While most were enjoying an Easter lunch/dinner, 3622 entrants still manged to attend.   The lack of participation left PokerStars out nearly $26,000 in overlay.  Three of the more notable names making the final table were cnew27, known as Clayton, “nolan24,” and “Try__An__Hit.” While they might have had more experience than the rest, it did not pay off as none of the trio made it to heads-up play.

Battling for the title and the $101,250 first place check was “Playgirl555” and “enjoyin_nyc.”  The edge certainly had to go to enjoyin_nyc, a player who has had some marginal success on FullTilt winning a $55 daily tournament last year.  However, in the end it was Playgirl555 who held on for the victory and a 6-figure pay day.

The latest-starting event of the day on PokerStars, the Sunday Second Chance, attracted 1,565 participants creating a nice $313,000 prize pool.  A few big names including “DaPokerGun” and “ImaLucSac” made final table appearances, going out in 3rd and 8th place respectively.  Heads-Up play came down to “sugar teddy” and “1337Gambl0r” two smaller-stakes players looking to make big scores.  Tournaments like this prove how volatile MTT play can be; while two seasoned professionals were unable to win, two players with marginal success were able to win over $40,000 a piece.  With over $16,000 on the line for first place, the heads-up battle was worth more than either had made before.  The tournament title and $56,340 went to sugar teddy when he was able to outlast 1337Gambl0r for the victory.

The $215r provided another great final table including eventual champion “rivermanl,”  a player needing very little introduction.  Rivermanl has won the PokerStars Second Chance, the $215r, and the $109r within the past year accumulating over $1,200,000 in prizes on PokerStars alone.  Joining him at the final table was another high stakes professional, “gator93,” who has two scores over $130,000 to his name on PokerStars alone this very month in SCOOP Events.  Rivermanl found himself heads up with “poker_lord76,” another high stakes pro who won this very event last July for just over $56,000.  In the end rivermanl’s chiplead was too tough to overcome and poker_lord76 was unable to suck-out to get back into the match:

FullTilt was slightly affected by a lower turnout due to Easter Sunday.  Their two smaller majors, the Brawl and Mulligan were able to reach their respective guarantees while their $750,000 guaranteed was unable to attract enough participants.   The Sunday Brawl is a $240+$16 “KO” Event paying $40 to a player every time he/she knocks out a fellow competitor.  Thirty-two FullTilt sponsored-professionals participated this week including former PCA winner Ryan Daut, two-time WSOP bracelet winner Scott Fischman, and WSOP Main Event Champion Huck Seed.

The biggest name at the final table was young internet professional Steve “MrSmokey1” Billarakis, well known for being the youngest WSOP bracelet holder.  Unfortunately for Billarakis he busted in 4th place and had to settle for just over $31,000 in prize money. Heads-Up play came down to two players with out much history on FullTilt, “bengha82” and “Pippi78.” The tournament title and $81,534 first place check eventually went to bengha82.  This victory easily surpassed his previous high score of $2100 in a $11 1r+1a event last December.

The Sunday $750k saw a big drop in attendance this weekend forcing FullTilt to pay nearly $25,000 in overlay to their players. Some well-known tournament players made the final table including “Wretchy,” a high-stakes tournament professional best-known for winning the Sunday Brawl last June for nearly $70,000.  He has also fared quite well in re-buy events, with a second in the $163r on FullTilt and six top-2 finishes in various $109r’s on PokerStars over the past year. Forty-three “Red Pros” played in the event including high-stakes professional Brandon Adams, David “The Dragon” Pham, and well-known internet professional Eric “peachykeen” Liu.

The final three players left, “perky264,” “LTDansLegs,” and “KungKroon” were not exactly giants in the MTT world.  Out of the three only perky264 has had any success in tournaments and he seems to be a mid-stakes grinder. LTDansLegs was eliminated in third, earning $52,000 when his AQs failed to improve against perky264’s AKo. Perky264 took that good fortune into heads-up play, outrunning a flopped straight (with a higher straight) and then winning the final hand with KQo vs. AKo:

The final tournament of the day, the FullTilt Sunday Mulligan, saw a few familiar faces at the final table including “NovaSky” and “pwnosaurus.” NovaSky, a previous winner of the $1K Monday on FullTilt for $93,000, made it all the way to heads-up play against “Arti TAG Tilt,” a relatively unknown player without a big win to his/her name. Pwnosaurus settled for 4th place and $19,581, well below his best score, a $164,630 cash for a 3rd place finish in FTOPS Event #12 this past February.  NovaSky took control of the final table, amassing a nice stack and using it to his advantage, taking down the title with relative ease:
