You Brits sure have an easy time with PokerStars. I can honestly say I’m jealous. Remember the promotion awhile back in which PokerStars would simply make anyone who made PlatinumStar for the month an instant SuperNova for a whole year? We, as in the guys from the rest of the world, were left out of the loop.
Here’s the latest scoop on one of the biggest events of the year in the Poker World, and it comes to you again via PokerStars. This time though, everybody else is invited, not just Britons.
What am I talking about? The PokerStars.com European Poker Tour (EPT) London Poker Festival.
When will it take place? September 30 – October 7, 2009
Where is it located? Hilton Metropole Hotel, just 10 minutes’ walk from the West End and Oxford Street in London obviously.
Quoting John Duthie: “The PokerStars.com EPT London Poker Festival will have a rich mix of games and buy-ins to cater to the most players possible in a compelling schedule – by poker players, for poker players. This continues on the fundamental programming shift made for last season’s EPT Grand Final where we tried to create the best opportunity for all our players, not just higher-rollers, to play a wide mix of poker games and formats at a variety of accessible buy-ins.”
This upcoming event will be the biggest PokerStars EPT Poker Festival to date. There will be about 16 separate events scheduled, including the return of the popular three-day EPT London £20k High Roller, the first-ever £2k European 8-Game Championship, and numerous lower buy-in events, including a £500 8-Game event, a £1k Pot Limit Omaha High-Low event, a £1k No Limit 6-Max event and a £2k PLO event.
Collaboration is the greatest asset of any partnership, and in the true spirit of just that this event, the PokerStars.com EPT London Poker Festival in being run in conjunction with the Grosvenor Victoria Casino. This year’s event has been moved up the street to the London Hilton Metropole Hotel, which is located 300 meters from the Grosvenor Victoria Casino, in order to accommodate the increasing amount of players expected. Last year almost 600 players competed in the PokerStars EPT London Main Event, with first-place winner Michael Martin, a Yankee, taking home a £1 million prize. This year the new venue will accommodate more than 800 players, have an estimated overall prize pool of £4 million and players from across the globe are invited to compete for it on the felts of London.
As all good tournaments, there will also be plenty of cash games running on the side, the now famous Side Games. There will be no less than 28 tables of cash poker running throughout the festival at the Grosvenor Victoria Casino. Too bad it’s so difficult to multitable live!
There will also be one table tournament and single table satellites running daily at the Hilton Metropole. For all PokerStars.com EPT London Poker Festival events, players can buy-in directly from the PokerStars client and also receive pay-outs into their PokerStars accounts, which is ultra convenient because you would not need to have to lug around massive amounts of cash (and run the risk of being mugged) if you somehow luckboxed your way to the top prize.
Online satellites for the PokerStars EPT London Poker Festival are running now on PokerStars, with buy-ins from as little as $2.22 or 111 FPPs. Players who qualify on PokerStars don’t just win their seat; they also win hotel accommodation (or cash equivalent) and spending money as part of their prize package.
So, what are you waiting for? Start playing today to do just what Cousin Avi did: pack your bags, and go get your riches in London. Yes, London. You know: fish, chips, cup’o tea, bad food, worse weather, Mary fucking Poppins, LONDON!
