Tony G has stepped up to the plate and challenged the player known simply as Isildur1 to a high stakes heads-up match. The heads-up match will be 2500 hands of $50/$100, with half of the hands being Pot-Limit Omaha and the other half being No-Limit Holdem. The match starts January 2nd at 16:00 ET and both players have escrowed $150,000. Whoever is winning after 2500 hands will be declared the winner. There is no side bet, the winner just keeps the profits, but Tony G and Isildur1 are two of the most exciting players in the game, who have both played at much higher stakes, so this will surely be one for the railbirds.

The SuperStar Showdown is PokerStars newest promotion in which their newest member of Team Pro, the player known as Isildur1, whose real life identity remains unknown, battles any and all challengers heads up at high stakes poker. In the first SuperStar Showdown Isildur1 lost a close match to Isaac Haxton finishing down $41,000. This will be Isildur1’s attempt to get his first SuperStar Showdown win.

Isildur1, one of the world’s most swingy poker players, has been up and down since his sponsorship deal with PokerStars. After a $300K upswing in his first few days as a Pokerstars Pro, Isildur1 lost ~$330,000 vs Phil Galfond heads up, then another $41K to Isaac Haxton. Living up to his reputation however, Isildur1 has bounced back the last two days, going on a $300K heater, $117K on Monday and $172K yesterday.

A lot is on the line during this heads-up match. Isildur1 has proven time and time again that anytime he sits down at the poker table, huge amounts of money are liable to change hands. A big win here could help catapult Isildur1 back up into the nosebleed stakes. If Tony G gets the win this could send a message to the world that not only is he one of the best high stakes live players, but he is dangerous on the virtual felt as well.

To watch SuperStar Showdown #2, Isildur1 vs. Tony G., open up the PokerStars client and under No Limit or Omaha look for tables labeled “Showdown”.
