In October last year, Dream Team Poker unveiled their revolutionary new approach to a team poker tournament and later that month held their first event.  It was an invitation only event, which featured some very well-known professional poker players as well as some celebrity amateurs.  Now, Dream Team Poker is preparing for their first public event, and it too has drawn some of the most famous faces of poker.

The upcoming tournament, which will be played in the poker room at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, will be held from March 27th to 29th.  “Dream Team Poker offers a creative structure to team poker and we are proud to host this event in the World Series of Poker tournament room, which is also the site of NBC Heads Up Poker and daily poker tournaments,” said Jim Pedulla, director of the Poker Room at Caesars Palace.

Even though the buy-in was a mere $500 + $50 ($1,650 per team), it has attracted a lot of attention, even from some of the “high rollers” of the poker world.

Daniel Delshad, CEO of Dream Team Poker, remarks, “The overwhelming interest from top poker pros to participate in a non-televised, five-hundred dollar game proves that the Dream Team Poker concept provides a needed, new experience to players.  With team registrations coming in from all over the United States and internationally, I look forward to watching the battle for best team in poker.”

The front-runner so far seams to be “Team Favorites,” made up of Phil Hellmuth, The Mouth – Mike Matusow, and Jerry Buss, owner of the Los Angeles Lakers.  There is also an all women team, made up of Tiffany Michele, Maria Ho, and Lacey Jones.

“Team Favorites” will have to get through a pretty impressive list of pros in order to take down first place in this tournament, however.  Included in the list of well-known players are Jamie Gold, Jerry Yang, Justin Bonomo (who was on the winning “Team Bluff” from the premier event of Dream Team Poker), Jason Lilly (individual winner of the premier event), Dennis Phillips, Hoyt Corkins, Todd Brunson, Mark Seif, Paul Wasicka, Joe Sebok, Jeff Madsen, Scott Fischman, Kristy Gazes, Liz Liu, Quinn Do, Erica Schoenberg, Jean-Robert Bellande, Amir Vahedi, Young Phan, David Levy, JJ Liu, David Daneshgar, Mark Gregorich, Kenna James, Shane Schleger, Marsha Waggoner, Kenny Tran, and Shawn Sheikhan.
