PokerStars’ World Championship of Online Poker is set to begin this weekend, boasting over $30,000,000 in guaranteed prizes. Starting with the 6-Max No Limit Hold’em $215 tournament on Sunday, September 4, players will have a chance to compete in more than 60 different events. As in the past, these tournaments will feature a wide range of buy-ins, game types, and player limits.

Here are a few of the biggest events in the upcoming series…

September 11: Event 22 – $530 NL Hold’em ($1,500,000 guaranteed)
September 18: Event 41 – $10,300 NL Hold’em High Roller, Heads-Up ($150,000 guaranteed)
September 18: Event 42 – $1,050 NL Hold’em ($1,500,000 guaranteed)
September 25: Event 62 – $5,200 NL Hold’em Main Event ($5,000,000 guaranteed)

For the Main Event of this year’s WCOOP, a purse of at least $1,000,000 is guaranteed for the eventual winner. If previous years are any indication, the final tally could be much, much higher.

This will be the first WCOOP since the downfall of the American poker industry. Since Black Friday, Full Tilt Poker managed to run a successful FTOPS series, though the company has since fallen on extremely hard times. A strong showing by PokerStars and its player base would cement their position atop the online poker world.

For players looking to find a cheaper way into the game, PokerStars is currently running a wide range of satellite tournaments. These can be entered with cash or FPPs, with entry fees of as little as 25 FPPs or $0.50.
