The STR would like to wish everyone a happy New Year. The past two weekends have been interesting as Sunday has landed on Christmas and January 1st. This has led to some lower attendance figures on smaller sites like iPoker and BWin. However, there has still been plenty of action in online poker tournaments. Sites like Party Poker and PokerStars continue to thrive as 2012 begins. PokerStars will be ringing in the New Year in the Caribbean, as the 2012 PCA is set to begin in just a matter of days. The tournament(s) will be streamed live online on both PokerStars.com and FlopTurnRiver, so be sure to tune in to see all the action!
Some of the bigger events came to an abrupt end yesterday, as both the Million and 500 on PokerStars were stopped by chip chops. While it is understandable to lock up a big win, it does take a lot of fun out of the final table. The Million had a seven person chip-chop, which is one of the biggest in the tournament’s long history. Hopefully that is not a reflection of things to come in 2012.
