Probably the biggest few weeks of this year in online poker have kicked off this weekend with the start of two popular tournament series.
Full Till Poker has kicked off MiniFTOPS, one of the most popular series with affordable buy in’s and big prizes, most of which are still up for grabs! PokerStars, on the other hand, kicked off the biggest series of the year – The WCOOP. With millions up for grabs every days of the series and numerous $5,000+ Events, this series provides the best action and the biggest prizes in online poker. The Main Event features a $5,200 buy in an $8,000,000 guaranteed prize pool, which means that more than $1,000,000 will be awarded to the winner!
With so much excitement over the weekend, let’s review the first tournaments from both series starting with the WCOOP.
Event #1 kicked off on Sunday, attracting 11,799 players for a total prize pool of over a million dollars. After more than 20 hours of play, 2 players were left standing and made a deal. “WithoutNickk” from Russia was the chip leader and got $144,487.07 out of the deal, while German “herosnappinG” got $137,632.78. Eventually “WithoutNickk” was able to hold on to the lead and cruised to victory for his first WCOOP title!
Event #2 was a 2-day Event and once the final table was reached countless hours of play, 2 elimination came very quickly, leaving 4 players who decided to talk deal. Eventually an agreement was reached. “wvoron81” from Russia was leading the way and got $137,276.22 out of the deal, closely followed by “iñigovasko” from the UK who got $130,047.94. “Flush098765” from Germany was in third place and received $127,225.29, while “mariusflush” from Romania was in last place and got $115,347.31. Players left out $20,000 which would go to the eventual winner of this tournament. Surprisingly enough, it was “mariusflush” who managed to come back from his short stack and pull off a win for his first WCOOP title and an extra $20,000!
Event #3 was the biggest yet with a prize pool of $2,276,200 and more than $300,000 going to the winner. After two days of intense play three players were left and a deal was made. The shortstack “kasabooboo11” from Greece received $192,538.19, “1itchyfish” from Australia was in second place and received $248,478.36 and the chip leader “murvl” from Sweden got $273,715.29 after which it didn’t take him too long to finish off his competitors and claim a WCOOP title!
Meanwhile, at Bovada Poker a few more big prizes were awarded. MiniFTOPS Event #1 saw more than 13,000 players gunning for over $40,000 for first place. Eventually it came down to another heads up battle of Germany vs Russia and this time “ChrisStar887” from Germany emerged victorious for a nice $40,274.43 payday, while “ADubrovin” had to settle for second place and $27,141.92.
Event #2 kicked off quite late on a Sunday, thus attracting less players, but the prizes were still pretty good. With 4 players remaining, “FrAnKeeZ1” from the UK was holding more than 85% of the chips in play, but still agreed on a deal. “donk22000” from Germany received $7,700.00, “Suzyana” from Romania got $10,209.31 and “Suhleafs” from Canada received $10,581.82 for his efforts, while “FrAnKeeZ1” got $17,164.67, which was just shy of the first place payout anyway. He eventually cruised to victory, receiving his first miniFTOPS title!
Last in the weekend line up was Event #3 where “chicha62” from Finland swept his way through to the win for $7,940.25, defeating “Neptunism” from the UK in heads up.
