WSOP

You will rarely find a poker player that hasn’t heard of the WSOP, after all it is the place where every poker player should one day travel and where dreams are turned into reality. However, most poker players probably never heard of One Drop – a non-profit organization established in 2007 by Guy Laliberté.

One Drop strives to ensure that one day everyone will have access to fresh drinking water, which in this day and age seems like something that should have been done a long time ago. By developing integrated water-access and management projects around the world One Drop is at the forefront of this battle and every day more and more poker players are joining in.

Fortunately, Caesars Entertainment believes in the same goal and that action is needed today for a better tomorrow. Caesars CodeGreen initiative provides tangible low-carbon solutions to reduce water, energy and waste consumption at all Caesars resorts. CodeGreen has won more than 50 prestigious environmental awards and certifications, including the Silver IMEX Green Supplier Award and ten Travelife Gold property certifications.

Last year, Caesars Entertainment Las Vegas resorts fundraising helped to fund three major five-year infrastructure projects to provide clean drinking water to an estimated 70,000 people living in Burkina Faso, El Salvador and Honduras. Committed to sustainably, the company continues to implement hundreds of environmentally friendly programs through its CodeGreen initiative.

EV55_Day 01

After a successful debut in 2012 when the BIG ONE for One Drop™ raised $5.6 million for One Drop, the World Series of Poker and One Drop are continuing their efforts with two more charity events, with the first one kicking off on Wednesday.

Wednesdays High Roller (#1dropHighRollers) event with an $111,111 buy-in (WSOP Event #47) will kick off at noon. This three-day official WSOP gold bracelet event will re-direct 3% of the buy-in amount to One Drop as a charitable contribution from the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino. The prize pool in this event is expected to reach over $10 million. Players who cash in this event will be encouraged to consider donating some of their winnings to One Drop.
July 3rd and July 4th will see another official WSOP gold bracelet event with a charitable cause. These will be Events #58A and #58B, titled the “ITTLE ONE for One Drop” (#Little1drop). They will be a $1,111 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em events with two starting flights and unlimited re-entry through the first four levels each day. $111 from each buy – in will be donated to One Drop.

As always all players who cash in any WSOP event are encouraged to donate 1% of their winnings to One Drop. As a community poker players have a consistent and successful track record of supporting charitable causes via poker tournaments and other means and access to drinking water for everyone is arguably

the most important cause there is.

After winning the Big One for One Drop, Antonio Esfandiari joined One Drop and started supporting its mission. Together with Jeff Gross and Phil Laak, Antonio travelled to Honduras and El Salvador to visit One Drop’s projects. Hopefully other successful players will follow in their footsteps.

Seeing the amazing things that are going on around the world, discoveries being made that were borderline fantasy online decades ago and on the other hand, the lack of basic necessities in other parts of the world that would have probably been seen just as borderline fantasy decades ago if people would have known then the great things that humanity would achieve by this time. Poker players cannot fix the problem on their own, but they can make an impact that will bring the day of drinking water for everyone on the planet closer. Whatever the impact may be, the people who will benefit will always be grateful to the community and that is something worth a dozen Main Event bracelets.
