WSOP APAC

WSOP APAC

It’s taken three day ones, but finally the WSOP APAC A$1,100 No Limit Hold’Em “Accumulator” Event #1 has reached day 2.

Chip Leader going into Day 2 is Antoine Saout, who will have 105,375 chips in front when play begins. The Frenchman is a former “November Niner” (2009 Vintage), taking 3rd in the WSOP Main Event, and took 7th the same year at the WSOPE Main, so he’s no stranger to the hunt for a WSOP Bracelet.

Saout has a healthy lead over Daniel Kelly in second, who has a stack of 82,050.

The “Accumulator” experiment seems to have worked, as 580 players paid out for 1,085 entries. The format allows for players to enter each day, and any chips a player takes through from any or all of the Day 1s are combined into one stack to take forward in the event.

The Prize pool for the event is standing at a very tasty A$1.08Million, with A$211k set aside for first place.

The tournament room at the Crown Casino in Melbourne is littered with the metaphorical bodies of well known poker players who haven’t managed to make their way through in this event. These include Daniel Negreanu, Antonio Esfandiari, 2010 WSOP Main Event Winner Jonathon Duhamel, and live tournament regular Melanie Weisner have both made it through to Day 2 with top 20 stacks.

Poker Legend, Phil Hellmuth has also made Day 2 with a decent 20,650 stack to play with, after entering on all three days. Unfortunately for him, his stack for Day 2 hasn’t changed since he bagged up on Day 1a.

We’ll be keeping an eye on the events down under, and we’ll bring you all the interesting news here on FTR.
