WSOP APAC

WSOP APAC

The final table is set for Event #3 in the WSOP’s first adventure in Melbourne, Australia., and what a final table it is.

The A$2,200 Mixed event was always going to attract a lot of big names given the extra respect winning a mixed event always carries in high stakes poker circles. What we couldn’t have expected is two of the biggest names in poker would be the top two in chips going into the final day.

Phil Ivey has the chip lead, with 144,300 chips in his stack, while not that far behind him, Daniel Negreanu has 129,000 chips in his stack. They’re even sat next to each other on the final table, with Ivey having position over the Canadian.

These two legends of poker have over half the chips in play, and with the limits creeping up, the smart money is on one of these legends adding to their haul of WSOP bracelets.

Negreanu was looking forward to the challenge ahead, and it looks like he’s relishing the chance to beat his good friend Phil Ivey.

The event seems to have been full of friendly needling between the contingent of travelling professionals, and the final table promises us some interesting action between these two legends.

Whomever ends up winning will gain a fancy new bit of jewellery, and A$51,840, but the big prize will be the bragging rights.

The six seats at the final table will be occupied like this:

Seat 1: Graeme Putt — 36,400
Seat 2: Daniel Negreanu — 129,000
Seat 3: Phil Ivey — 144,300
Seat 4: Rob Campbell — 42,600
Seat 5: Brandon Wong — 86,100
Seat 6: Kevin Song — 49,600

Play resumes at 12:30 local time tomorrow, and will be streamed on the WSOP.com site. We will be bringing you the highlights on FlopTurnRiver.com, and you can follow us on Twitter or Facebook to keep up to date.
