WSOP APAC

WSOP APAC

The second WSOP APAC bracelet has been awarded, and this time it was for the A$1,650 PLO Event #2.
I think the newest WSOP bracelet holder, James “Mr_BigQueso” Collopy, likes Australia. Earlier this year he came in 3rd in the Aussie Millions A$2,500 6-max Event, and in 2012 he won the Aussie Millions a$2,250 PLO event. Now he has won A$69,662 and the WSOP APAC PLO Title.

He had won out the battle against local boy Edison Nguyen, which took just under 50 hands of heads up action, which Collopy started with a small chip lead of 414k against Nguyen’s 360k.
the final hand saw Nguyen get it in with a pot sized on the 2 T 8 flop, which saw his A K T 5 hole cards chopping with Collopy’s hole cards of AT94.
The 9 turn however saw Collopy take the lead, that the J river did nothing to change.

Collopy was succinct with his Twitter celebrations:

I’m guessing A$69,662 is going to buy a lot of sugar for this new champion, and he deserves it, after beating out a table full of talent, including Marvin Rettenmaier and Dan Shak, who went in 9th and 5th respectively. Rettenmaier had started the final table with a short stack, and it seems he was unable to spin it up.

The final table ended up looking like this:

Final Table Payouts
1st: Jim Collopy – A$69,662
2nd: Edison Nguyen – A$43,050
3rd: Tino Lechich – A$30,988
4th: Scott Reid – A$22,712
5th: Dan Shak – A$16,940
6th: Paul Sharbanee – A$12,856
7th: Mike Leah – A$9,923
8th: Martin Kozlov – A$7,784
9th: Marvin Rettenmaier – A$6,207
