Event #36

The final day of the $1,500 NLHE Shootout Event #36 has given us a winner in the form of Simeon Naydenov, for his first WSOP bracelet. He also pockets $326,440 for outlasting players such as Mike Watson and Nacho Barbero. We have a full report coming up soon, but until the, here are the final placings:

The $2,500 4-Max NLHE Event #38 has played down to it’s final two tables, and with just eight players left, Day 3 is going to see some fast a furious action. Players not making it through day 2 include William Reynolds (56th for $4,712), Faraz Jaka (53rd for $4,712) and Maria Ho (26th for $7,004).

155 players made it back to the Rio for Day 2 of the $1,500 Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo 8 or Better Event #39, but only 17 of them made Day 3. 56 of those players made the money, with Mike Sexton getting the first paying position for $2,809. Other players making the money included Phil Hellmuth (42nd for $3,246), Jason Mercier (36th for $3,743) and Barry Greenstein (31st for $5,273).

Event #40

The first day of the $1,500 No Limit Hold’em Event #40 saw 2,161 players join in the action. 287 of those players will be making it back for Day 2, after surviving the meat grinder that was day 1. Players who didn’t survive the grind included Phil Ivey, Bertrand “Elky” Grospellier, Greg Waxman and Antonio Esfandiari. However, Marvin Rettenmaier (4,000), David Vamplew (4,500), David Sklansky (13,000) and Kara Scott (36,800) all made it through. So did Frank Op de Woerd, one of the elite in Poker Journalism, who was taking some time off from writing about poker, to crush this event, and ended the day with 43,600 chips to head into the second day.

Day 1 saw 400 entries into the $5,000 Pot Limit Omaha 6-Max Event #41, generating a prize pool of $1,880,000. This brought of the names as well as the dollars, and we saw Phil Ivey, Scotty Nguyen, Joe Hacham, Jason Mercier, Vanessa Selbst, Erik Seidel, and Ben Lamb all buy in, and then bust out. More successful were Matt Stout (7,600), Tom Marchese (22,000), Daniel Negreanu (52,300) and Sam Farha (87,500), who will all be returning for the second day. They will be up against the big stacks of:

Player of the Year

The 2013 WSOP Player of the Year race hasn’t seen any changes updated after the action of the 22nd, so we’ll be covering all the updates in tomorrow’s report.

 

The 23rd is going to see the culmination of Events #38 and #39 as well as the continuation of Event #40 and #41. We’ll also see the start of the $1,000 NLHe Event #42 and the $10,000 2-7TD Event #43, which may seen the appearance of a certain Viktor Blom.
