The 24th of June was the 26th day of the 2013 WSOP, and saw the culmination of two Events, awarding two bracelets. There was also action in three other events, and we have the round up of all the action below.

Event #40

With 21 players heading into Day 3 of the $1,500 No Limit Hold’em Event #40, was going to  finish on Monday, and after a two hour heads up battle, Jared Hamby won over half a million dollars and a very fetching gold bracelet. Hamby had started the heads up battle at a significant chip disadvantage, but was able to take advantage of his good fortune to grab the win. A full report from the final table is coming up later, but until then the payout will have to sate your desire.

Event #41

The final day of the $5,000 Pot Limit Omaha 6-Max Event #41 saw the final 22 players play down to a single winner. Day 2 chip leader, Steve Gross, was victorious at the end of the action, and takes home $488,817 to match his gold bracelet. Event #42

Day 2 of the $1,000 No Limit Hold’em Event #42 saw the 168 runners still surviving after Day 1 cut down to just 11 hardy players. We lost notable players during the day, including Victor Ramdin (56th for $4,800), Tony Dunst (49th for $5,707), Jake Balsiger (40th for $6,879) and David Chiu (30th for $8,316). The 11 players still in have the following numbers of coloured betting discs:

Event #43

The final 7 players in the $10,000 No Limit 2-7 Single Draw Event #43 have combined to make a stacked final table, with no less than 5 of the 7 players remaining already holding a WSOP bracelet. Layne Flack, Jeff Lisandro, David “Bakes” Baker, John Hennigan and Konstantin Puchkov are all looking to add another bracelet to their collection. Other notable names who also had the goal to pick up a bracelet, but are going to have to wait for another event were: David Williams, Johnny Chan, Phil Galfond, Phil Ivey and Calvin Anderson (11th for $19,283). Event #44

The first day of the $3,000 No Limit Hold’em Event #44 saw 1072 players all vying to be the one to have their picture taken showing some winning cards and a new piece of gold jewellery. But, as we all know, you can’t win a tournament on Day1, and some of the players who found this out the hard way included Phil Hellmuth, Jason Somerville, Annette Obrestad, Nacho Barbero and Jake Cody, who all busted during the day.

Notables who did manage to survive the first day included Nick Abou Risk (8,750), Robert Romanello (9.750), David “Doc” Sands (16,000), David Vamplew (20,000), Randy “Nanonoko” Lew (28,300) and Joe Cada (58,900).

With Daniel Negreanu taking a few days away from the Rio, it’s given the other players in the hunt for the Player of the Year a chance to overhaul his lead. Jared Humby has managed to jump into 3rd place with his win in Event #40, but nothing else has changed yet in the race for the title.
