It seems that the “old school” of poker players aren’t as bad as a lot of people seem to think. At least that’s what the winner of Event #13 is going to be telling people for the foreseeable future. We have the results from that event as well as the final table from Event #12, and a round up of the interesting action from Event #14, Event #15 and Event #16.

Event #12

The $1,500 Pot Limit Hold’em Event #12 was won by Lev Rofman for $166,136, in what appears to be his first live cash of any size. We have a write up of the final table action for you over here.

The Final Table ended up like this:

  1. 1.      Lev Rofman – $166,136
  2. 2.      Allen Cunningham – $102,819
  3. 3.      Jaspal Brar – $68,332
  4. 4.      Kenneth Shelton – $50,709
  5. 5.      Anthony Harb – $38,055
  6. 6.      Eric Crain – $28,839
  7. 7.      Nicolas Halvorson – $22,050
  8. 8.      Timothy Reilly – $16,994
  9. Jean-Nicolas Fortin – $13,195

Event #13

Most of you reading this will have heard of Mike Matusow, but I doubt you’d be expecting to read he had won his fourth WSOP bracelet this year. Well, in Event #13, that’s exactly what happened. Mike won $266,503 to go with that fourth bracelet, and we have a final table summary coming up soon.

The final table of eight ended up looking like this:

  1. Mike Matusow – $266,503
  2. Matthew Aston – $164,700
  3. Mike Leah – $108,412
  4. David “Bakes” Baker – $79,078
  5. Yuval Bronshtein – $58,835
  6. Tony Cousineau – $44,543
  7. Gavin Smith – $34,268
  8. Vladimir Shchemelev – $26,757

Event #14

Event #14 has seen 1,819 $1,500 entries to this No Limit Hold’em event whittled down to just 14. With Hiren Patel and Jonathan Taylor the only people over a million in chips, we’re expecting them to make the final table.

With only 8 bustouts until the bubble as play started, most of the 204 players starting the day made a profit. These included Andy Frankenberger (110th for $3,339), Dominic Nitsche (82nd for $4,174) and Erick Lindgren (19th for $13,260).

The top ten stacks starting the final day are:

  1. Hiren Patel – 1,510,000
  2. Jonathan taylor – 1,222,000
  3. Russell Crane – 767,000
  4. Dan Gannon – 648,000
  5. Blake Bohn – 641,000
  6. Hunter Frey – 600,000
  7. Jed Hoffman – 533,000
  8. Chris Hunichen – 517,000
  9. Patrick Kubat – 417,000
  10. Tuan Vu – 339,000

The Players are back at the tables at 1PM Vegas time in the Amazon Room.

Event #15

With the first day of the $1,500 H.O.R.S.E. Event #15 in the books, I was expecting to see more than half of the top ten chips stacks belonging to a top flight name. While we do have November Niner Jesse Sylvia, Andy Bloch and Jonathan Aguiar in the top ten, it does seem to be a little light on marquee names. As I skim down the partial list of chip counts that has been published, I’m not finding that many down there either. With the exceptions of Phil Ivey (4,000), Norman Chad (9,700) and Matt Waxman (38,100), I’m not seeing many names I know. Has H.O.R.S.E. lost it’s edge for pro players? I guess we’ll have to see later in the series.

The top Ten stacks going into day 2 are:

  1. Jon Seaman – 62,600
  2. David Chiu – 62,200
  3. Viatcheslav Ortynskiy – 58,600
  4. Jesse Sylvia – 51,200
  5. Don Yucius – 51,000
  6. Michael Sanders – 50,500
  7. Tommy Hang – 50,000
  8. Andy Bloch – 47,900
  9. Xuan Liu – 44,600
  10. Jonathan Aguiar – 39,000

The players will be back in action at 13:00 from the Rio Casino in Las Vegas.

Event #16

Heads up tournaments are one of my favourite types of event. Event #16 is the $10,000 heads up event of this year’s WSOP. 162 players started off the action, and after three rounds we are down to 32. Players still in the event include Jason Mercier, Sam Trickett, Phil Galfond, Melanie Weisner and Rand Lew. Those who didn’t make the cut to Day 2 included Daniel Negreanu, Joe Cada, Ben Lamb and Jonathan Duhamel.

The players will be cut down to just four by the end of play on Day 2

Player of the Year

We have two new names on the top ten standings in the WSOP Player of the Year race. Mike Matusow and Matthew Ashton have joined the board, but remarkably little else has changed.

The top ten is looking like this:

  1. Daniel Negreanu – 427.15
  2. Benny Chen – 300.00
  3. Charles Syvestre – 260.00
  4. Daniel Marton – 252.00
  5. Matthew Ashton – 240.75
  6. Trevor Pope – 240.00
  7. Levi Berger – 237.50
  8. Matthew Waxman – 233.00
  9. Mike Matusow – 228.75
  10. Bryn Piccioli – 226.50
