Sky Poker Review

NOTE – Use the links on this page to be taken to the Sky Poker website to create your account before you download the software.

Sky Poker is an independent poker room that offers Texas Hold’em and Omaha Poker in cash game, tournament, and SNG formats. The site gets a lot of traffic at their micro and low-stakes games, but struggles to get much action at the mid and high-stakes levels. They do offer many great promotions to attract new players, including a nice £500 Welcome Bonus that includes a free £10 in tournament tokens.

There are many different games to play at Sky Poker. Their two staples are Texas Hold’em and Pot-Limit Omaha. Players can also find a few Omaha Hi/Lo tables running from time to time. All of these games are also available in their tournaments and SNGs. There are many different SNG formats including turbo, double-your-money, speed, heads-up, and treble your money events. Their tournament schedule is highlighted by a £100 buy-in, £5,000 guaranteed Bounty Hunter event.

Sky Poker offers around-the-clock customer support, as well as an extensive FAQ and the ability to search their site for answers to your questions.

Software & Interface

While Sky Poker’s software may not be up to the standards of sites like PokerStars or Party Poker, they do offer a stable platform to play poker. Their Lobby is simple and easy to use. Players can sort their cash games based on the number of players and average pot size. Navigating to your account is done in one click of the “My Sky Poker” tab at the top of the screen. Once there, players can review their bonus balance, Poker Points earned, and other key information.

Players can also personalize their play once at the tables. There are many different custom options to choose from such as sounds, four-color decks, and more. The software moves quickly and without glitches. Overall, Sky Poker may not win anyone over with their software, but they certainly provide a more than adequate platform for gaming.

Action & Traffic

If you enjoy playing low-stakes games, there will be action abound at Sky Poker. However, those hoping to grind cash games above £.50/£1.00 and tournaments over £20 might need to find another room. Even some of their smaller buy-in tournaments only get a dozen or so players to enter. The lack of action can make clearing their £1,000 welcome bonus a bit difficult, but if you put your mind to it, earning all four-figures is certainly possible.

Fish Rating

Because of their relative newness and lack of action, Sky Poker’s games are incredibly soft. Players used to competing on difficult sites like Party Poker or PokerStars will be shocked at how bad the players are on Sky Poker. Most of your competition will come from players who have built bankrolls off of a free £10 tournament token or other freerolls. Be sure to employ a tight/aggressive strategy, and you should be rolling in the dough in no time.

Bonus & Promotions

The bonus described below can only be earned if you use the links on this page and register for a new account before you download the Sky Poker client. Enter the bonus code POKER when asked. If you fail to do so, you may have issues claiming your £500 bonus and £10 in free tokens.

You can get £10 in free tourney tokens (3 x £2.20 + 2 x £3.30) merely by registering your new account using the Sky Poker promo code POKER. You don’t even need to make a deposit to qualify for this offer. You can use these tokens to enter tournaments of your choice. You can even combine two or more tokens to enter an event with a higher buyin.

Then once you make your first deposit, you’ll be eligible for a 200% up to £500 bonus! Every time you earn 250 poker points, you’ll be issued another £10 portion of the bonus until you’ve cleared it all. The bonus expires in 30 days, so don’t delay; hit the tables as soon as you can and as much as you can to clear the entire bonus within this time period.

You’ll earn 6 poker points for every GBP in rake contributed during cash games. You’ll receive 10 points for every £1 you pay in SNG or MTT fees. This means that the bonus will clear at a significantly better rate in tournaments than in cash games.

Sky also runs other fun promotions, such as a points boost for short-handed play, Poker Points for Cash, and exclusive freerolls. Their VIP system, called “Sky Poker Rewards”, will convert your points to cash. To enter this program, you must enter the code “REWARDS.” At the three highest VIP levels, called “Priority Club,” players will receive bonuses earlier, earn more points/cash when playing real money games, and even get their withdrawals processed more quickly. Players will have to generate a certain amount of Poker Points to become a Priority Club member, but it is certainly worth the time. At the highest levels, this VIP system is worth 30% rakeback.
