Default a limit newb seeks wisdom

Wow that registry hack for PP skins is great, i've finally managed to get pokernow's initial deposit bonus going, thought i'd 3 or 4-table 0.5-1. Going pretty well so far, anyone care to comment on these hands

Tried converting but messed something up, i'll figure it out for next time i post

Did i miss a bet or two here

you should fold or raise preflop. you have a mediocre hand on the button, people limping in front of you. i would fold preflop unless you think you can represent an overpair and keep jamming the pot on the flop
... but on PP/EP .5/1 tables ?? nah people will call you down with 72o

Please use the converter when posting hand histories... http://www.selachian.com/tools/bison...hconverter.cgi

    1. Bet the turn.
    2. Raise preflop. Won't change the outcome of the hand, but AJs is a raise.
    3. Fold preflop, raise the flop.
    4. Fine.

saw some of the responses...raise preflop? wtf.

oh..it was s00ted. easy raise here with AJs.

    i raise AJs UTG.

What do you gain by raising JTo pre-flop after a bunch of limpers? Build a big pot with the worst of it?

possible to drive people out post flop if you raised preflop.. as i said i would rather fold it.. the only way i would play it on the button with a bunch of limpers is fold.. if i were to play it, by some weird cosmic force, i'd raise the limpers to show strength and represent the nuts on the flop.

raising preflop will make your opponents MORE likely to call you down because the pot will be big and it is correct to do so.

and im saying i would never play JTo anywhere.. if i were to play it, i would play it merely as a steal from the button ... it works on UB 1/2 fairly often.

you're missing out on profitable situations if you don't play JTo late position vs a couple limpers. given this is 0.5/1 you could probably play JTo from middle position profitably.

With loose limpers in front nothing is for sale here. Don't build a pot but I think you have enough of a hand + the button to want to play.

Thanks guys, i'll be clearing my empire reload at the same tables so perhaps i'll post some more hands in this thread later. I found i could convert hands if i copied directly from the HH window but when i'd pasted them into FTR and then copied them into the converter they didn't recognise as HH, any way around this?

Could i have got more money here or was the flush too risky. UTG+1 was quite aggressive and was taking pots without showdown quite often.

    Hero bets, UTG+1 folds.

Three Bet Preflop. Bet/raise the turn. Tough luck on the river.

It looks like you have a problem with the stop and go. Why are you raising the flop to check the turn? Were you planning on check raising the turn?

I would have bet the turn, two flush draws on the board, bet out and don't give the possible flush draws a free card. Maybe the QQ folds, but I doubt it. Bad luck on the Q nothing you could do.

    First AK hand:
Going for consecutive check raises isnt the smartest play. More likely than not it'll get checked through on the turn.

    Second AK hand:

Calculate your odds then ask yourself that question again.

I dislike the fact that you three bet preflop then didnt follow through on the flop. You have 6 overs and a backdoor straight (without discounting). You should be betting the flop here to try and limit the field and get it HU on the Turn. Depending on how the Button plays, is he likely to raise you on the flop with his TPTK?

Table texture plays a lot into this. I don't think a check/call is always a bad play here, but you need to think this one through.
