$10NL Ring - What am I doing wrong?

Instead of posting my hand history I was just wondering if anyone had any general advice for this limit. I've read HOH 1+2 along with plenty of other poker books and I've been looking around various forums for about 6 months. I play a decent (or so I thought) TAG game, but I can't seem to make money in the long run. Anyone have any tips for adjusting my game to this level? I'm sure the books I've read were not meant for this level of poker, but unfortunately this is all my BR can handle at the moment. Great thanks for any advice.

19 hand hold em? So for those stakes I should ditch playing suited connectors and low pairs? Also, what is a good site for this level? I remember reading PS was the best microlimit site so I rolled there, but I'm open to any opinions. Thanks again for the response.

play all pairs from all positions. don't get into big pots with single pair hands. suited connectors fare better when played in late position - just don't go crazy and start loosening up your standards little by little and end up playing stuff like T5s regularly. for sites....PS is plenty fishy at 10NL i think.

Stars is a wonderful site, but more difficult than some. The microlimit players there are generally competent players trying to work themselves up to higher stakes. Also they allow lots of multitabling, so good players can spread themselves out.

You can try the beginner's tables at Party, which are one big fish market.

Wherever you go, just play simple, solid poker. Don't try to bluff or do anything fancy, Just give yourself room to capitalize on your opponent's bad moves.

Be patient. Tell yourself that winning or losing this or that pot makes no difference at all. Keep making good bets and winning takes care of itself.

I'm in the same boat. I play on the Boss network and I win money, consistantly. I do the same thing, playing the same 16/6 game that I play there on Stars and I take knocks and lose money.

It just seems harder than the other sites around. That said, my losses are getting less and I am taking down a lot more pots now. I _will_ beat it and, when I get rolled for $25NL, I'll be moving back to Party for a bit of fishing.

im playing 10NL and am 19/8 but break even after about 2k.

its amazing according to my stats, the huge money winners have 40-60 vpips, while the textbook 16-22 vpips are usually nothign more than breakeven at this stage

stats based on small sample sizes are misleading

The games at the microstakes are typically incredibly passive so you can play a lot of hands without risking much, so its not unreasonable that those loose players are winning. With a solid 19/8 game youd be killing these tables though, so your problems are most likely coming from your postflop game. I dont remember my stats at 10nl and they are on another computer, but I was pretty tight, but they were something like 12-15/3-6 [a general range I think I fell in] and over my 10k hands there I beat the game for 10ptbb/100. Its a small sample but Im positive if you have a decent postflop game you could replicate that. When I was playing I followed pretty close to AOKs strategy with a few changes and not much thought to my play. Just start posting some hands and fixing your leaks.

I think that's the main area that I need to improve on. Pre-flop, I think I am pretty solid. I may need to loosen up a bit, but I'm not shy to raise good cards when I get dealt them.

My main area of concern is analysing the texture of the flop when time is limited. Live I'm fine with making decisions on what and how to play when the cards are on the table. On-line's just a little trickier. It's not second nature yet, but i've only got 3k hands in PT and my losses are narrowing on the sites I can keep records for. I'm slowing working it back up to the black!

I might give AOK's reference sheet a more detailed read than I have in the past, but right now I have a holiday to think about and that means I have to deal with the crap that the airports here in the UK are dishing out.
