1/2 Live Game

I play in a 1/2 live game a couple times a month and the majority of the players are extremely loose and call and raise with any type of ace or suited cards regardless of position. Basically, it is a great situation. However, it's very hard to put people on hands and i sometimes will give up a lot of chips because i cant put someone on the q-3 that just boated. ANy suggestions for improving my odds? Usually ill play solid and go up about $50 and then get killed by some random hand.

Just play tight standard poker and get paid, you'll take all their money in the long run..

Remember to control the size of the pot, I think that's one of the most important things you can do - vs. players like these it's far too easy to stack off with TPTK.

Its pretty easy to figure out the gamblers versus the poker players at the table in short order. IMHO, you have to play the gamblers as if you will never be able to push them off a hand. Against people like that, play a little tighter than you normally would, but a little more aggressive.

Maybe stay away from lower suited connectors and anything lower than KQs. But, when you hit something better, play super aggressive and make it big (at least 8xBB) to go. Don't be afraid to get it all-in preflop with pocket broadway cards.

Is that going to stop the guy withQ3o from catching the miracle? No, but if they call the big bets with those rags, you are a heavy favorite to make money, particularly since they probably aren't playing with any cards you want to hit the board.
