Villain is 27/13/1 over about 1K or so. I've haven't seen him shove pre.

    PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.05 BB (8 handed) - PokerStars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

    Hero (CO) ($4.42)
    Button ($1.26)
    SB ($7.54)
    BB ($4)
    UTG ($3.63)
    UTG+1 ($5)
    MP1 ($4.40)
    MP2 ($7.39)

Preflop: Hero is CO with K, A
    UTG bets $0.15, 1 fold, MP1 calls $0.15, 1 fold, Hero raises to $0.51, 1 fold, SB calls $0.49, 1 fold, UTG raises to $3.63 (All-In), 1 fold, Hero?

    2. So UTG and MP1 call 3bets a good amount?

You seem to have no plan when this could easily happen. That's no good.

I only have a few hands on MP1 but UTG's fold to 3bet is around 18%. So yeah, I guess he does call them al lot. What threw me was his PF shove.

Thanks for the link, I'll work throught the math for a few different ranges.

Stats on SB would help as well on the decision.

    Villain range: QQ+, AK
    Your equity: 38%

I think you need closer to 42% unless I have butchered the all in analysing. This is against just the UTG and SB has to fold.

Since you dont have a read on SB, you cant assume much so I think for safety sake its a fold.

pot odds of 40%, AKo has equity of 39% against QQ+AK, so folding is good, utg's range could be even tighter, making calling even more -ev. in general, calling all-in with AK against a full stack is gonna suck. AK is basically a semi-bluff preflop. you can jam in some spots, but calling all-in is usually bad.

here are some good strat articles that deal with AK

That was true. I actually expected him to call, then I'd re-evaluate on the flop.

The SB did fold, but no reads.

During the hand I put him on JJ+ and AK and thought that I was on the losing end of a coin flip and folded.
Working through the math I'm comming up with an ev of .097. But since it's the first time I've calculated EV I'm not sure if that's correct.

So, the range that I put him on was too wide and how high should the EV be before a call is justified, something like 1 to 1.5?

Sounds like you played it well. It is good that you are posting hands other than just losers and double checking your lines etc. I would think you're range is two wide really until he shoves then it's pretty obvious. I try and I stress try when I get in these positions and it's just so out of the ordinary to just give them credit, much and wait for a better day! NH

At best, you're flipping, rest of the time you're crushed + you have no idea what SB is going to do if you call.

    Fold.

I also think that AK is not an auto-3b here considering UTG's tight opening range (but I may be wrong).

fold , vs a passive player ur at best flipping usually , i'd be shocked if he shows up with AQ which is also less likely cuz of hand combo's
