Default Back to basics, looking for opinions

Every few months I like to re-evaluate the basics of the game and go through a check list of items, articles and chapters to reaffirm my play. I generally do this when i am in a downswing. I have never posted anything to garner the opinion of the cardrunners community. That being said, how do you put players on hand ranges? While playing, do you rely strictly on PT, or do you evaluate the board? It seems in every video, and I watch them all, anyone who is new at the table, or they "don't have any information" on the player get a walk when they raise.

I want to compare the community response to the books, as we online players are a different breed to the authors who tend to play higher stakes and live.

Giving an unknown credit for a hand until you have more info and a better feel for their play is fairly standard.

I play a lot of amature games so the basics are all I use.

Poker Battle Tactic #2: what does my opponent have?

Amatures will generally play big card-low kicker, especially suited. So when they check to you and you bet (hopefully your aggressive) and they call you can put them on top or middle pair or a draw.
Some will usually raise and call big bets with any pocket pair.

Aggressive players can raise but usually limp early on with small pocket pairs and suited connectors. I sometimes raise them with middle pair when I think they are stealing.

Tight players raise with hands likely to hit top pair. And will usually fold if they miss the flop.

Loose players play lots of course so on the flop you can expect them to call with top pair little kicker or middle pair.
