Default Be careful getting married to QQ or KK preflop

Erick Lindgren advises in his new book how you can destroy weak tight opponents in a NL tournament who get married to the premiums preflop. They are easy to read and destack. In a cash game this strategy doesn't really apply;but when the chips are in and the emotions are high this is where certain unnatural plays can have a place.

    Party Poker
    No Limit Holdem Tournament
    Blinds: t15/t30
    10 players
    Converter

    Stack sizes:
    UTG: t895
    UTG+1: t725
    UTG+2: t1025
    Hero: t985
    MP2: t1285
    MP3: t665
    CO: t480
    Button: t485
    SB: t695
    BB: t760

    Pre-flop: (10 players) Hero is MP1 with :ad :6d
3 folds, Hero raises to t90, 3 folds, Button raises all-in t485, SB folds, BB raises all-in t760, Hero calls t760.

    Flop: :ac :7d :5d (t2080, 1 player + 2 all-in - Main pot: t1470, Sidepot 1: t610)

Bingo.I flop Top Pair ok kicker 3 way with the nut flush draw and a backdoor straight flush draw.

    Turn: :8d (t2080, 1 player + 2 all-in - Main pot: t1470, Sidepot 1: t610)

    Bingo.

    River: :5s (t2080, 1 player + 2 all-in - Main pot: t1470, Sidepot 1: t610)

    See ya.

    Results:
    Final pot: t2080
    Hero shows Ad 6d
    Button shows Kh Kd
    BB shows Qc Qh

The lesson here is that against the right people you can change gears and try some unorthodox plays that you normally wouldn't use against the standard opponents.Even if you go broke you still have the rest of the night/day to yourself and don't have to be in a situation where you are fighting off the blinds on the bubble and go home with nothing to show for.Right when the two of them left they both mentioned this was the last of their bankroll and I had sent them both down the felt singlehandedly.

Don't be afraid to gamble it up in a tourney, and when you are holding QQor KK always keep in mind that even if you are not up against Rockets or AKs you can still see your big pair, stack, and pride go down in flames like the Jedi Temple did.Know the power of the dark side every now and then.

Why is this post even here? "Get all-in with the worst of it and you might suck out." You might hit the jackpot at a slot-machine, too.

This is either an amazingly retarded post, or a level of irony so dry and sophisticated that you have to be a humor essayist for The New Yorker to appreciate it. Either way, I don't get it.

    I like the turn play.

I find this works well at 400nl cash games because the players who are all-in expect you to turn over a premium hand like AA. The deception equity makes up for what would have been a marginal play.

no wonder i keep making final tables when people keep calling my pushes with A6s or AJ as the case turned out to be.
Post flop is where its at and enough of those who get married to overpairs preflop get married to top pair and get destacked anyways.

    Losing Prop Bets
You called an all-in and risked 7/9 of your stack on A6 vs. KK.
I don't understand what you did correct here..

Sorry guys;I made this post while playing on micro Tilt at Allpro. They gave me a free $30 to play(can't withdraw it but I can still gamble it up) so I got aggravated after limping with A6s and decided to shove it to the overpairs.Imagine if Anakin Skywalker had walked into the Temple with thousands of clones and annihilated everyone;that was my mindset when I pushed.

    Hehe... I think it is.

WhooFleuryScores.. let me critique this hand for you. First of all, you really SHOULD just fold this when the action is on you orgininally. Now, admittedly, I can steal with much worse in a tournament (albeit from late position), but if you think the preflop raise (as a blind steal only) is a profitable move, so be it. My impression is almost invariably 'no' here though. Ace-six suited in 4th position at a 10 handed table is very weak. You are representing a pretty big hand here.. and seeing this, the button pushes all-in. He's in no real pressure to make a move at this moment. Now seeing both plays in front, the BB (who is in good chip position), puts all his chips in!

Let's put it this way. The button certainly has a better hand than ace-six and everybody knows this. Seeing this, the BB.. who is in good chip position, puts all his chips on the line.

Now, assuming you were playing this seriously and not just to 'gamb00l it up', what could you possibly thinking that you made a good call here? Truthfully, the fact they flipped QQ and KK is very fortunate for you. something like AK and QQ would be much worse, and very realistic. You are not at all committed, and the ranges for your opponent's here make your winning percentage very low. Just get out...

That reminds me of when I tried to bluff into a made str8 flush. Basically imagine when Princess Leia kissed Luke Skywalker and it turned out to be her brother. GG

You suck out on them.Btw it was A6s of diamonds.

I would never try to bluff on a board with a straight flush out unless I had the nut or King high flush and if I did you can bet I'm pushing there.

Hey it was a good kiss though wasn't it?
