    Default Boat vs quads?

This is the second hand played at the table, with zero info about the villain and very little info about the limpers (no more than 10 hands).

    OnGame - €0.05 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
    Hand converted by PokerTracker 3

    MP: €0.49
    CO: €1.50
    BTN: €1.97
    SB: €10.23
    Hero (BB): €5.00
    UTG: €2.71

SB posts SB €0.02, Hero posts BB €0.05, CO posts DB €0.05

    Pre Flop: (€0.12) Hero has J Q

fold, MP calls €0.05, CO checks, BTN calls €0.05, SB calls €0.03, Hero checks

    Flop: (€0.25, 5 players) Q 8 8
SB checks, Hero bets €0.16, fold, fold, BTN calls €0.16, fold

    Turn: (€0.57, 2 players) 4
    Hero checks, BTN checks

    River: (€0.57, 2 players) 8
Hero bets €0.30, BTN raises to €1.76 and is all-in

    Hero?

And I'm not sure about preflop.
Should I raise this hand from the BB?
This kind of hand tends to put me in all sort of troubles, especially in multiway pots oop vs stations.
I'd hate to see 2 calls after my 6x raise, 1€ pot pre-flop with little to zero info about the villains.

why did you hide the results from the HH, but include them in the thread title?

There's a question mark in the title.
As in "does he really have quads?"

    fair enough.

villain is short and a fish, and short fish do crazy stuff sometimes and there's more combos of queens than 8s so just call even though we're not getting the greatest of odds also bet turn.

I suspect if you had raised, you'd have got a lot of calls. It's a tough one, and I don't know what I'd do facing that many limpers, but you've got a good drawing hand and it'll play well multi-way. If you raise and every mouthbreather on the table comes along, you've got a 20bb flop pot with a marginal drawing hand. As it is, most of them obviously just want to see a flop and are folding pretty quick once they have, so I don't mind checking.

Do you think small/medium PP are jamming the river here? Maybe. Depends on your villain. Readless, I think you've got to credit him with jamming at least some PP. He'll also jam QX that he slowplayed.

Why did you check the turn?

Well I'm not folding. We're chopping a lot of the time, he probably hasn't got KK+ since he limped the button, and he doesn't have an 8 very often because he checks the turn. I guess he can have Q8 or even 84, or he could be checking a naked 8 on the turn like a muppet, but he can also be bluffing.

Note that villain is less than half stacked, thus he's probably a fish. That's a read. Just call.

Preflop + flop are fine, bet the turn.

Call river to chop or sometimes win against spazz shoves.

Turn check. Why am I checking?
I don't know, and this obviously is a problem. Doing stuff while not knowing why. Not good.
Probably a tendency to keep the pot small when I have no info.
Wich is retarded because it's losing me money when I'm strong.

These spots usually are my biggest losses, when not giving credit to sudden aggression.
I learned to fold on draw-heavy boards, but in this hand I didn't like either option.

Your going to chop/win more often than lose. Call.

I agree, I don't see any point in calling.

Pot is 2.61 hero has to call 1.46. Meh, I guess folding is ok but I think we chop often enuff to call.

Once again I will reiterate we are risking 1.46 to win .48. This means we need to be good 75% of the time. If you think we are good 75% of the time then okay.

Well surely there's more than 3x as many Qx combos than 8x combos in villain's range?

except we only win half the pot when he has Qx, so using that logic we would need 6x times as many? because we only win half a pot?

I'm talking out of my arse, I was distracted by ican's comment about being good 75%. When we chop we're only winning back what we put in, plus half the limps from others pre flop, minus rake. It's bugger all. We need to actually win the pot outright sometimes. I just have a hard time accepting that we fold the near nuts against a short stack donk at 5nl, but I guess that's why I'm stuck at micros while the big boys play for real money.
