I'm usually not too keen on giving advice in these threads, but I think you could've just called the flop and see what happens on the turn. You could've raised (not shoved) and then seen the villain react and narrow the range a lot.
Plus without stack sizes pre, it's hard to give any advice? You shoving your last $7.00 on the flop is fine, but if you shoved $20.00+ into a $10.00 pot, you were asking to get insti called with a set in my opinion.
And yes, I can get away from this hand depending on previous hands with the villain. If the villain or myself just sat down at the table, that could mask the hand a little.
