Default Did i make the right call?

    First post...

I was playing a home game with 6 of my buddies. $20 buyins, with unlimited rebuys.

it was down to 4 of us. I had around $40, chipleader has about $150.

    blinds were up to .50-1

I was holding pocket 3's and no one bet before the flop. .

    Flop comes out AA3

chipleader checks... I bet $5. everyone else folds. chip leader raises to put me all in.

I knew he didnt have pocket aces because i know him better than that. He wouldve bet them before the flop.

So i'm pretty confident i have the best hand. I call. We flip our cards over....

he has A6 unsuited. so his hand is AAA63

he was shocked at my full house. 333AA

    turn card = A
    river = 5

so i lose. I was a little annoyed... I thought i played it right.

    What do you guys think?

Yeah you played it perfectly well in my eyes, all you need from this hand is sympathy!

It is hard in situations like this when you know you have the upper hand, yet the guy with the big stack is going to be pushing you around and most likely calling all of your bets no matter what you did, and potentially out drawing you because of it. The only thing I could think that you may have done differently, if you thought there was a possibility he would fold, is just to take down the pot right there by betting bigger. When there is an overpair on the flop, you get into a dangerous situation because anyone holding that overcard to make trips could outdraw you even though you have a boat on the flop.

In my opinion it wasn't the smartest move on your friends part, even with trip aces on the flop he is dominated by anyone with that other ace and kicker better than 6 (and of course pocket 3's). If he knew you were holding pocket 3's, which obviously he didn't, I doubt he would have made that bet with only 4 outs to beat you. But then again I don't know anything about how the game prior to this hand unfolded, or anything about either of your playing styles. I think it's pretty clear you made the right call, especially seeing as you were short(er) stacked and could use some leverage.

You absolutely made the right call, if you dont go in with a full house, what will you go all in with, you just got unlucky on the turn, more times than not youll betting thew way you did

cool... i needed some re-assurance for myself. I'll get him back next week.

The week before we also went toe to toe.

I shut him out for about $60 with a flush.

We play once or twice a weekend, i can't get enough of this game!
