Differences between limits

5NL is the only table that I've played more than a few hours on. I would like to know how each of the levels differ from your own experiences.

does each simply decrease as the levels increase?

5NL:
10% major donator
60% big fish
20% half decent
10% decent

flop %: easily 60-70%, no respect for raise at all

10NL:
5% major donator
55% big fish
25% half decent
15% decent

flop %: easily 60-70% BUT they respect raise a little

25 NL:
20% big fish
40% half decent
30% decent
10% sharks

flop %: they respect raise A LOT more. only 2-3 caller if you raise.

50 NL:
5% big fish
20% half decent
60% decent(mainly rocks)
15% sharks

flop %: this is rock garden 20-35% They surely respect your raise

100 NL:
10% big fish
20% half decent
50% decent
20% sharks

flop %: 20-35% again. They respect raise even more. However they are tougher post flop(less rocks more sharks).

Thats from my experience...

big donators means people who got no clue how to play and could very well call/go all in pre flop with anything. They trow money away.

big fish is people who limp in every hands and go crazy with top pair or overpairs. They loose lot of money.

half decent is people who have some sort of starting hand requirement and somewhat respect raise but they still suck post flop. They loose some money.

decent have good starting hand requirement and decent post flop play but generally either too loose or too rockish. They make some money.

sharks are good all around players who makes the big money.

Note that also by going up in levels, the level also increase(decent players of 5 NL are less skilled than decent players of 100 NL). Another difference is that even thought there are still bad players at 50-100 NL, they are less likely to call your big bets with nothing since they actually care about 100 bucks.

100NL is SOFT.

A wonderful mixture of too tight and too loose that plays very well into the my favorite style of play.

Depends on the site. Pacific 50NL is a whole different game from the Stars 50NL .

....and the Pacific 200 game is a LOT harder than it looks. Easily could be murder to a semi-tight, under-bankrolled player who folds too much.

So are you talking Pacific 100NL when you say it's soft or elsewhere? I've heard people say it was no different to the 50NL. If so, I need to move up and double my profits.

I've played almost exclusively at party and found that the standard of play is about the same throughout all levels up to 100NL except for starting requirements and to some degree aggression.

25NL is horrible, I'm sure most of us have played there. Poor preflop selection, calling it off with draws, overvalue hands, weak betting.

50NL is about the same play, just tighter and weaker. They lay down too many hands. Lots of set campers.

100NL is more like 25NL, except they do more raising. Lots of calling pot-sized bets with draws, paying off overpairs, and my AA/KK gets paid by AK all-in preflop ALL THE TIME, even on LRRes.


That's my personal opinion, and I don't have a wealth of experience at 100NL, just about 10K hands.
