2000preflop puts the TAG AI and makes the loose passive pot comitted. Since preflop one of them is AI and your bet will only be called by hands that beat you it is a very loose bet, I would check/ fold
With high blinds and in desperate need of chips an observant TAG will often just complete the SB with a big hand because he knows you are LAG and thinks you will try to bully him off his blind. If he is a decent player he isnt completing there with anything less than a monster. low pairs probably just push. Even AK stands a good chance of being pushed. Unless he makes a habbit of just completing i am inclined to put him on AA, KK and jus check the flop and see if i hit something that can take his stack. If he starts to complete too often then you can bully him again.
Edit: The TAG also just calls after he knows the other shortstack may be about to go out. This is another pointer towards a monster. If he had a marginal hand he probably just folds and waits for shortstack to go out so he can move up in the prizes. I think you have to be very careful here.
That is some good advice...I never c onsidered the TAG actually thinking about his situation, but I should have given him more credit. I thought the completion meant he wanted to see if he'd hit on the flop, but it makes a lot more sense he already has a hand and wants me to bet for him. Also, the loose passive would likely get knocked out anyway without me risking half my chips, and I did not even think about how he calls only with hands that beat me on the flop.
Now that I think about it like that, this was overall a bad time to pull a bluff (even with the few outs) like that, and I should learn to be more patient in that spot with a big stack and let the smallers knock each other out. Also, maybe I should have raised less pre flop, but I figured the short stack might move all in and I'd call anyway so why not just put that decisison on him.
BTW, we started with 1500 chips - it just was a fast game I guess (or is that normal since it was 27 person?). I don't play many SnGs, so thanks again for the suggestions.
