Default Good tactic for flush draws?

Looking for advice on how to deal with the potential flush draw. These things have plagued me for a while. I have either folded the best hand (been bluffed off the pot) or I have been sucked out on.

Here is how I have decided to deal with them, illustrated by an example:

I am dealt 7-7 in mid position. I limp. Say the board comes down 2c-Ac-7s. I have made a set, but there is a potential flush draw on the board. At this point, I put out a decent bet, maybe 6-9XBB.

Usually at this point, at least one person will flat call. I put them on a flush, or a hand I can otherwise beat. If the turn card comes, say it is the 6h. This is not a dangerous card to me. At this point, I will put the opponent all in. Either you take down a medium sized pot right there, or they will call--sometimes you will get sucked out on, but most of the time they will lose to you.

In other words, if I think I have the superior hand on a non-dangerous board, and I believe the other person is chasing--I always put them all in to make it bad for them. Either they fold, and I get the pot, or they call, and my overall value for this move will be positive.

What do you think? Are there any hidden flaws in this that I have not seen?

Obviously, when I get to be a better player, I may want to change it up a bit, but as a novice I am still looking for "rules". Any input?

not sure i'm qualified to offer advice

what you're saying sounds good to me though. i tend to take the same approach whenever i believe i have the best hand in that situation. i fear the flush! only thing i'd say is that i'd probably aim to make the move (even to the point of putting them all in) on the flop. not sure i'd want to give them any reason to call and see the turn. of course, some people will still call even then, nature of the beast but as you say - in the long term it will work out as a good play.

I think in your example you lay out a pretty easy plan to make money off of drawing hands when they make bad calls. Even against a made flush while you hold trips you still have outs to boat up so it's not that difficult of a situation.

A tougher situation is when you hold TPTK. I think your tactic works there as well. What you want to do is make drawing hands fold or make bad calls. That is the key with dangerous boards. When you have TPTK you just want to play against TPWK or MPGK (or drawing hands chasing with bad odds).

Consider what bets you are willing to call while drawing to a flush. If you see a potential flush out and you have the best hand right now, you want to make them call bets that you wouldn't call if you were the one drawing. I love it when someone min-bets into a large pot when I hold 4-to-a-flush. Don't make that mistake. Just give them bad odds even if they don't know they're chasing with poor odds. If you get sucked out on to drawing hands that call your pot-sized bets along the way, no worries you will make money in the long run.
I'll be a rootin' tootin' shootin' damn fool, protectin' my chips.
