Good tactic for flush draws?
Looking for advice on how to deal with the potential flush draw. These things have plagued me for a while. I have either folded the best hand (been bluffed off the pot) or I have been sucked out on.
Here is how I have decided to deal with them, illustrated by an example:
I am dealt 7-7 in mid position. I limp. Say the board comes down 2c-Ac-7s. I have made a set, but there is a potential flush draw on the board. At this point, I put out a decent bet, maybe 6-9XBB.
Usually at this point, at least one person will flat call. I put them on a flush, or a hand I can otherwise beat. If the turn card comes, say it is the 6h. This is not a dangerous card to me. At this point, I will put the opponent all in. Either you take down a medium sized pot right there, or they will call--sometimes you will get sucked out on, but most of the time they will lose to you.
In other words, if I think I have the superior hand on a non-dangerous board, and I believe the other person is chasing--I always put them all in to make it bad for them. Either they fold, and I get the pot, or they call, and my overall value for this move will be positive.
What do you think? Are there any hidden flaws in this that I have not seen?
Obviously, when I get to be a better player, I may want to change it up a bit, but as a novice I am still looking for "rules". Any input?
