I feel after almost 6 months of fixing mistakes and reading a lot of poker literature, i'm on my way to being able to build and maintain a bankroll.

I'm just in an inquisitive mood today, probably from the hydrocodone for my wisdom teeth.

woa I got my wisdom teeth out yesterday too. Ive been playing since I was 17 and I turn 19 on april 5th.

I'll reply by saying,

I've been playing hold'em for about a year and a half (i'm 22)

the biggest mistake I ever made was playing $3-6 (2 times) with a $500 bankroll

the best tip i've learned for NL was don't lose all your chips in an unraised pot

I´ve been playing poker since november last year. I started with $20 at Royal Vegas and my BR is now pure profit. You can see its size below.

My biggest mistakes are the times when I have kept on playing although I was tilting.

The best tip I´ve ever learned was how important your bankroll management is, and I am glad I learned it early.

I should've scoured all the resources of the forum but I didn't, afterwards I saw that by not doing so, I was not reading things you had posted, on the first day I arrived. You were justified in what you had to do and I accept that.

I've been playing since last summer. The biggest mistake I've made was probably playing 3 tables when I was incredibly drunk.

I believe BradCKY has gone all defensive since he got banned from IRC for 24 hours today, for being an ass.

I can read up on the forum also today instead of other stuff, which is what I need to do most.

I started in late November with $25. Once I had doubled that, I withdrew my initial deposit.

Biggest mistakes = the two sessions of huge losses (-$200 each) I've had. One was from playing while tilting due to a fight about poker w/ the gf. The other was from lack of sleep and moving up in stakes before I was ready.

I originally started playing because I asked a friend what he was up to, he said he played a lot of online poker back in October, so I asked if I could watch. He was playing $50-100 limit, and I couldn't believe it the size of the pots.

He is in vegas right now playing in a 10k tourney at the Rio tomorrow. He has played many hours with guys like Doyle brunson and Mike Caro, heads up, $50-100 limit.... he's good. I think in just a little over 2 years, he's accumulated 1/4 million dollars.

I've played about 6 months.
I started with 200$ at three different poker sites (=600$+100$ bonus)
Situation today:
Site 1: 0$ (no bonus)
Site 2: 496$ (50$ bonus)
Site 3: 367$ (50$ bonus)

Biggest mistake: Playing way too many hands on Site 1 loosing three stacks in no time. There might have been some whisky involved too...

Best tip: Do not play too many hands. 20-25% is enough and 30% the absolute max.

I started playing one month ago when I turned 18. I deposited $20 and have turned it into nearly $400 since then.

I didn't even know the rules of poker until the middle of january. I played game with friends and was hooked. I asked one of my poker playing friends how I could better myself and he sent me this website. I initially deposited 50 dollars around late january at poker stars and have turned it into $250. I'm playing .5/.10 cent no limit right now.

I love going all and my biggest mistake was laying down hands I knew were losers or I knew I was beat.

The best tip I got was to think about what hands the opponent could have, not just what hand you are trying to make.

Nice! My birthday is April 5th as well! However, I will be 36.

I've been playing Online for 6 months. I had been playing prior to that for about a year and a half in a weekly home game.

Started playing LIMIT last October and won a little. Switched to NL and lost it all ($85).

Discovered FTR in January and started again with $50, playing $0.05 / $0.10 NL. Bankroll is now $450.

Biggest mistake - overconfidence after a good run.

Best Tip for a newbie - FTR website -> read it, then read it again, and again.....

BR started off w/ $40, been broke a couple of times and have got up to $300 at the moment (and had a nice holiday to Greece last year courtesy of poker)

1. holding onto big pocket pairs when it's obvious I'm beat
2. playing beyond my bankroll
3. playing on tilt
4. tilting further and still carrying on playing!

Was playing online for a few months, barely scraping by... then discovered FTR at the beginning of March and turned $50 into $650...

Biggest mistake?
Trying to sqeeze in games before work or right before bed when I'm dead tired, and trying to force big winnings in a small amount of time.

Best tip?
No cold calling, and learning to fold and dismiss those, "ahhh what the heck" calls... And letting go of pocket pairs if you're beat.

I do have to say though, it's very encouraging to see that so many of us are still relatively new to this!

started at party poker about 8 months ago lost a little over $100 went to royal vegas and pacific to work on my game at lower limets .25/.50 fixed and sngs have cashed out for over $500 so far (gave money to wife to keep her off my back for playing) moved up to .50/1.00 fixed and biger tournys built back to over $500 again just starting to play some n/l ring but mostly sngs

biggest mistakes: starting at to high a stakes and calling or betting on the river after i know my hand just got beat
best tip: if you cant tell who the fish are its probaly you

Me too! Worked too -- new washer, new oven, no complaining.

I started playing in december and lost my first $150. Redeposited a couple months ago and have worked $150 into about $2,000 (including bonuses) of which I have kept about $1700 for BR.
