Always putting my opponents on the nuts when they have mediocre hands,
Still calling when I know i'm beat on the river in-case its a bluff,
Getting frustrated too easily if I miss a spot (should of limped with low pair but just mucked it because of position) or suffer to a fish/donk.
  2. #77
My biggest leak is playing live tournaments.
  3. #78
-Thinking that my opponent is thinking about what I am doing...and assuming he adjusts before I see evidence that he is even capable of doing so.

-Assuming that when people play solid preflop that they play solid postflop.

-Check folding too much after callling in 3bet pots...not sure if this is a leak.

-Calling river bets light with middle pair

-Calling maniacs light & trying to outplay them when i should just be patience.

-Not raising the flop enough for value when I am sure I have the best hand ie. letting them turn/river their hand way too much.
-Calling turn raises hoping they don't bet the river
-Not 3-betting people with 1,000,000% ATS enough from the blinds.
-Cbetting with air against a guy with 5% fold to c-bet then calling his turn bet with air again thinking "this guy has to be bluffing, maybe my ace high is good"
-Trying to balance my range at 25NL
-Call short stack shoves with AJ/22-77

@kiwiMark I have this problem a lot too. One thing I tried last session was doing some poker "homework" (3-4 different hand situations) and really taking my time and talking out the range/moves I would play and make for a good 10-15 minutes. This got my brain in the thinking mode from the get go and as a result I played one of the best sessions I have in the last couple weeks. Also maybe a set music playlist (some easy to listen to electronica or something) for grinding could help.

That said, m2m and Jason's first posts = my poker career.

    1) when Im not running good my red-line starts getting out of control positive but I am usually playing below break-even poker. I dont mean to do this but subconciously I must start barrelling air way more.
    2) when Im unsure I like always click call.
    3) getting pissed off at myself and taking a week off every time I play really bad for a session

I dont realize things about poker that are stupidly obvious until this one moment in class where i should be thinking about how important spin orbit coupling is.

-Playing overly aggressive once my chip stack doubles or tripples.. I find myself trying to push much harder when I double or tripple up my buy-in. Then I will slowly dwindle down to my original buy-in at which time I start playing my normal tightness again and my stack will go back up. If I could lay off the aggressiveness when I was ahead I could probably make more in a sitting.

-Overlooking straights and flush's when I have top two pair. I find it very hard for myself even if I'm not pot committed to fold to bets when I flop top two pair even when I KNOW they are on a straight draw or flush draw. Then when they do hit the flush or straight for some reason I find myself paying to see if it was a bluff when I know it wasn't. There are tooo many chasers online. Trying to bet out the straight/flush draw just doesn't seem to work online no matter if I'm overbetting the pot.

-Having a read on someone but doubting my own belief. Sometimes on both ends. I often find myself calling with middle pair even though I do read my opponent for having top pair and on the other side I often fold to big bets even though I'm reading my opponent on a bluff. This is only online. I find it hard to read certain players and I think sometimes that scares me into the fold even though I feel my top pair may win.

These are the things I'm working on right now.

    - I'm handling my tilting better now, to the point where I just log off or play rly tight for a few hands after a bad beat. However, I do have the very occasional tendency to chase a player after a bad beat, so this is certainly one.
    - NOt checking HH enough. Mainly cos I don't really know what and how to analyse...I dont know what makes a bad play a better one outside of the obvious things like stupid calls (which are usually down to being pot committed and tilt).
    - Not enough grasp of the maths. I am working on this however.
    - Not thinking about ranges enough during a hand.
    - Sometimes not giving full focus to everything or getting enough reads on my opponents.
    - Letting external life factors bother me and get in the way.

All being worked on slowly but surely.

after doing a 50k check up my biggest leak is completing from the sb. It's so tempting to pay that extra 1/2 bb with hands like k2 suited when 3 others have limped in. It just hasn't been profitable Nah it's been very unprofitable.
  15. #90
Oh yeah, my blind stats are/were terribad.

Stopped playing out of them so much.

Incidentally, does "completing" mean checking/calling the big/small respectively?

completing is when you just call from the sb in a limped pot. Far as i know you can never cmplete from the BB

    Multi-tables.
    Sit and Goes.
    Omaha.
    Stud.
Those fucking mixed game tables on stars because "I probably crush so bad at the holdem part that it makes up for not even knowing the rules for the other games."
  18. #93
^lmao... I accidently joined a mixed tournament and it had Omaha in it and I had NO clue how to play it. I searched general rules on google real quick and ended up raking in more chips with the Omaha part then the Hold'em part, lol... I ended up cashing out in like 15th place cause of the pots I stole in Omaha.

    lmao too.

    ive played a ohmaha tornie.

I don't ask for help, in life or in poker, which is a leak in both. If FTR has taught me anything it has taught me that i am terribad!
Would anyone sweat with me? Not sure what programs people run. Any advice on how or offers would be greatly appreciated.

I have a problem loosening up towards the end of my session. I lost 3 stacks last night in hands I should have never even been involved with. I ended up 3.52 ptBB/100 instead of 20 ptBB/100 for that session.

Levelling myself into thinking I'm being levelled and making stupid plays as a result. This is part of adjusting to table dynamics, my image and opponent's image properly.

Why is shot taking a leak? Do you mean in general or just for certain players?

This one is kind of used to be me. Seeing peers who had less knowledge of the game and basically did no work besides playing who were more successful then me was pretty tilting. Of course I never realized these peers were huge bum hunters who can't survive in post 2011 games.

Large river bets are usually not bluffs at small pots but guys trying to get paid for either poorly played monsters or rivered monsters, I gotta start folding rivers or betting turns
