    Default Newbie here.

Please explain to me the continuation bet odds.

If you make a continuation bet of 1/2 size of pot.

You only have to win 1 out of 3 to break even correct?

    Pot is 400.

You make it 200. You win 600.

You make 3 of these bets 600. Am I right?

Is there any other close odds to this making continatuion bets?

I'm horrible at calculating pot odds and all that stuff, but I think it's something like if your c-bet is successful >=1/3 times, then it's +EV.

If you c-bet the flop then that calculation only applies if play stops on the flop, or if your c-bet is called then you fold on the turn everytime. If your c-bet gets called then you make a big hand on the turn then you'll win more money then as well. This calculation then moves into implied and reverse implied odds.

Im a newbie I dont understand all that info and I dont want it explained.

1/2 pot bet will break even if it wins 1 outta 3 times.

    Thank you.

    ok, Got this from HOH1

Amount you bet and odds you give opponent

    Twice the pot - 3/2
    The pot - 2/1
Three quarters the pot - 7/3
Two thirds the pot - 5/2
    Half the pot - 3/1
One third the pot - 4/1
One fourth the pot - 5/1

    hope this helps.

So the pot is 20 you bet it 20. 40

Youd have to win this 1 outta 2 times for it to break even

    Thats not bad.

If you make 1/2 size c-bet and opponent folds more then 1/3 of the time it is profitable, assuming that in the times you get called and you are behind you dont put more money into the pot

say you have TPTK on the flop against an opponent and theres a flush draw out there. You need to bet 3/4 of the pot so that he isnt getting the odds to draw to his flush (If he is in fact holding a flush draw)

with 1 card to come a flush is 4/1 to hit but due to implied odds you can call with pot odds of 3/1 so betting 3/4 of the pot gives opponent less than 3/1 odds to draw and it would be a mistake for him to call.

You're probably the only person in the history of poker forums who has 1000 posts and calls himself a noob.

Have you checked out the 2+2 skins yet?

Implied odds are not set. Against some opponents you couldnt call a 1/2pot bet with a flush draw and against others you could call a PSB. Against most opponents in position Im calling both.
