The "right" road to solid poker skills

I've played just a few months now ($1-$3 SnG"s)and have a million questions rattling around my head. Assuming the ultimate goal is to simply acquire solid poker skills and a good understanding of SnG strategy (perhaps move up a bit, but probably never more than, say, a $15 SnG ), can anyone suggest where I might best concentrate my efforts (don't say bowling). I spend a good bit of time watching high limit SnGs and tourneys, but I find myself constantly asking myself questions about the action. Is there any organized way to approach this, or should I just keep playing, reading, and posting, and try to let it happen organically? ....thanks

Another good resource is watching videos. If you are looking for explanations to several basic ideas try out a site like cardrunners or its competitors.

as a beginner you may find grinderschool.com right up your alley for videos and such. Also, read everything you can find here in the S&G section. There are full details explaining the games and how to succeed.

If it's SnGs you want to learn, spend time reading everything in the SNG board.

As for an organised way to learn, thats just what I have been after for ring games. But for SnGs, read all the articles in the SnG board digest, get as good an understanding of ICM as possible and then its just down to playing & posting until your range estimates are good. If you're serious about them then get SnGWiz or similar too.

i havent watched many of the SNG videos but the cash game matieral i recommend. i'm sure the SNG section is equally valuable.

Read Collin Moshmann's SNG Strategy. Also (as mentioned previously) read thru the Stick section - lots of good stuff in there.

The best way to improve in SnG's:

1) Play an SnG
2) Post it in the SnG section of this forum, using tournament trimmer
3) Spend an hour or two analyzing the feedback

Oh and read the stickies.
