Default Rush Poker is interestingly difficult

I don't know why, but I can't consistently win at 2/5 NLHE rush. I do fine at regular tables, but i always end up losing at rush. The problem is it's much much funner for me. I'd just like to know what kinds of adjustments I should make to help improve my game. Thanks in advance. Also, I'm only playing the 19 hands suggested by that one article.

Start trying to learn how to play poker and stop reading off of a chart from 5 years ago.

Give me some direction, if you wouldn't mind. I've read and studied the theory of poker, and NLHE Theory and Practice, but am having some difficulty applying it. I just started poker a month ago, and am feeling quite lost.

Read the stickies, post a stats review thread, then start posting hands.

    Best of luck.

Also check the top of the community forum for the sticky about IRC and come talk poker with the guys in there. They'll be happy to help.

Mods need to nuke that awful 19-hand article. There's much better articles on how to be a nit than AOK's. There's a thread on 2p2 called Nit Camp. Go read that instead if you want to be Tighty McMighty.

You asked so I'll tell you what I think. Probably you know alot of this.

    Postflop
    1. Don't c-bet too much esp oop. Nikachu has a free video at CR on this very subject, quite good.
    2. Double barrel a little more. Nikachu also talks about this some in the vid.
    3. Learn to bet/fold on later streets. If you mucked everything less than a set when raised on the turn or river, even a min-raise and esp by a fish, you would save alot of chips.
    4. Don't 'call to fold.' If you're facing a bet and you're thinking about calling with the intention of folding to further aggression, just dump it now. Especially oop, b/f or c/f >>>> c/c.
    5. Don't bluff. It's just not necessary at the micros at all. But do aggressively semi-bluff nut draws (8+ outs).

    Preflop
    1. You don't have to 3-bet light if you don't want to at 5NL. You def should not be calling or 4-betting 3-bets light.

Here's the main thing about Rush. Most people play really tight. So you should be stealing alot from the BTN and SB when it's folded to you. I'd say, AT LEAST 40% from the BTN and AT LEAST 25% from the SB. This is a little player dependent, more vs nits and tags that don't 3-bet alot, and less vs lags and fish. But you can steal alot and it really adds up. When you do get called, don't go crazy postflop, just play your hand.
