Kinda hard to judge without a read.. he wants to get the money in asap.. there aren't many conceivable hands that beat you on the flop except QQ and 3x.. he might also have a big draw (like TP+flush draw) or AA to play like this. You're basically hoping it's TP or a bluff? I probably fold the flop like a pansy until I get a better read on how this guy plays..

Btw I don't understand your question, villain bets more than twice the pot on the flop and you're asking if YOU had to be more aggressive?

No, you played it fine. You are getting shown Qx and a flush here almost exclusively.

jack, yeah, i felt very much like a weak pansy fish just calling down there. But i guess i SHOULD let a queen just bet it and not give him a reason to fold.
The overbet just threw me totally there.

Overbets usually don't come from very strong hands. Villain played this very strange.

Sometimes poeple are just trying to bluff you off a hand and fail to get away from it if you keep calling (Allen Cunningham had such a situation in the current main event: He called a raise with JJ and kept calling his opponents c-bets on a ragged board. On the river the guy bet 10000 or so chips (the starting amount of the tournament) and he called after some contemplation. The guy mucked his hand, probably AK or so). I once flopped quad fours and villain was trying to push me off the hand, going all in on the river, all I had to do was call his bets. He had AQ.

I'd be surprised if you lost that hand.
