    Default Is this too weak/tight?

Hey guys, lurk alot and appreciate the good advice. I have been thinking about this play for a couple hours, so i dusted off my account and gonna post about it. last summer, I call this guy down. Sorry, I dont have the exact HH at the moment its somewhere in my handgrabber folder : /

25NL at Pacific. I played 30-40 hands with this guy, he sorta seemed fishy, was playing at the pot alot, raising often, but not at the right times, or something; i got the feeling he was a luck player.

Hero dealt AQs on the button. Hero raises 5x BB to 1.25
Villian calls UTG, all others fold.

    FLOP: Q 7 5 rainbow

Villian bets 1, Hero raise to 3.00, villian reraises to 5

    TURN: 9, no flush draw

Villian goes AI for 23, hero folds.

He could have had anything, but I put him on either a set or a Q7/Q5 2 pair. As I said, last summer, I insta call this. Is it a sign of becoming a better player when you make laydowns like this, or is it a sign of a scared player who has seen crazy suckouts at low stakes NL? In the past, I have made this call, to have seen people pushing with everything from 66 to QQ, so I feel like im getting more leery of hands like this as I play more, but it sometimes feels like it costing me money.

His line smells like a set. Beware of players who limps preflop and then all of a sudden wants to play a big pot.

@ 10NL and $25NL this could be anything. Depending on the player I have lost stacks and won stacks. I've seen this push on OESD, sets and TPMK. It's a crap shoot. I have stopped guessing and just played pot odds and implied odds and if they are always making plays without odds I call this. If your wrong this time you will get it back. I think putting someone on a hand that you call a possible luck player, at those limits, is nearly impossible. The pot is $16 he's shooting for it with JJ, TT or MP and a draw.

I dont think you made a bad play at all! Maybe he had Aces or Kings as opposed to a set. At least you consider the possibility that you are beat. To be honest it doesnt really matter whether that particular guy had you beat because you obviously have the potential to play good solid poker if you are not playing it already, id be intersted to know what stakes you now play at?

a poor player leading a dollar, min raising your reraise, and then pushing the turn is prob a big hand. Then again as someone said earlier , its prob pretty hard to get a read at these limits.

I think you are beat and made a good fold. If hes overplaying his hand then youll get a second crack at it.
Me? I always tell the truth.

    Even when I lie.
