	As a general rule, when you've got a decent hand and you're trying to end the thing, you want to bet out until you get raised. The CR indicates quite clearly that he has an ace, or an 8, or pp > T. So that's an easy fold.

 Your bet, I think, might have been too small. It gives him tolerable odds for the spade draw -- as a result, you can't put him on an A like you could with a Big Ole Fat Bet (>pot). So you are stuck having to bet big on the turn if it's not a spade, and see if he still feels good.
 
 If turn is >T and not a spade, you could conceivably bet smaller to find out where you're at. A raise there would indicate the A or a pair of whatever's on the turn.
