Warning: WeldPhaser

On January 23, WeldPhaser made a post in the BC asking for a transfer on ACR. I decided to help and transferred him some funds that very night. He then said he would reimburse me on PayPal by January 27:

thank you so much man, im gonna pay you on friday night , cool?

I never received it and asked him what was up. He apologized and said:

hey man, i apologize about not throwing you that on friday, i am going to send it on the 1st or friday, no later. again i apologize. and thank you

I did not receive it and still have not received it. He has stopped replying to any of my PMs. The last I've heard from him was January 30.

I should have requested Weld send first, but since it was a low amount and he wanted to play that night, I just decided to give him the benefit of the doubt. I would NOT recommend anyone on FTR initiate any transfer requests from WeldPhaser. If you decide to risk it, make sure he sends first.

Hope this gets resolved to your satisfaction, gmml.

well i thought it inconsiderate to be posting hands if he still hasn't paid gmml. Should be transferring it back rather than flaunting gambling with it.

Tbf I'm unsure how difficult that would be to do but yeah definitely.

It's important though, I'm not helping someone who has essentially stolen from another member.

Yah I came here for same reason , to see if he paid, given a hand was since posted.

I'm not defending weld here, but he hasn't stolen anything. Let's not forget something very important... when you lend money to someone you only know online, you are taking a risk. It's a shame that people abuse the trust placed in them, but we've all seen this before. It's great that there are people here like gmml who are willing to put their faith in long standing members, but sometimes this is gonna happen because people are people and money is money. Let's not get shitty with weld, it will only serve to make him feel isolated, which might make him think "fuck this" and disappear, meaning gmml gets nothing back. I agree his hand analysis posts should be ignored while this is outstanding, and I'd be in favour of a ban if this doesn't get resolved to gmml's satisfaction, in the meantime though we should treat weld with the same respect he was shown before in the hope he sorts out his finances and clears this debt.

As for him playing poker, well it's pretty easy to imagine he's running through his bonus money or whatever to try and get his shit together. I dunno what's owed, prob fifty bucks, so maybe burning ten bucks to try and get it paid is reasonable behaviour.

But yeah, weld, stop posting hands for the time being. gmml is top dog here, you're kinda taking the piss expecting free advice while owing him money.

I don't think anyone has been rude to him.

I am clearly responsible for taking a risk sending first to someone I didn't know. The point of this thread wasn't to shame Weld or claim I was stolen from, but rather to inform the community so it doesn't happen to anyone else.

edit: BTW, I don't think he should be banned, but clearly he isn't making any friends in the community by making false promises and not keeping his word.

Yeah fair enough, both savy and gmml. I only posted that because had it been me in weld's shoes, and people were using terms like "stolen", I might feel like my back is up against the wall. I guess I feel there is a risk of running him out of town.

Just want you guys to know, that me and Gmml spoke. I was definitely in the wrong. I gave him a couple dates and didn't produce the dough on said dates. I won't go into the whole story, but we talked and worked things out.

I'm glad this is worked out. Mistakes happen. Good people own up to their mistakes and work to correct them.

Just to be clear here, Weld still hasn't paid but I appreciated his honesty in his latest PM explaining his situation, rather than giving me more failed promises. I'm fine giving him more time to grind up and he said he would give me an update on his progress within the next few weeks.

Edit: And yeah, I agree that Weld should be fine posting hands and engaging in strategy discussion. Please don't ignore or attack him in threads due to this post.

If this had happened on a staking forum , I don't think Weld realises how much shit he'd be in for this.Even his last post saying things had been sorted gave the impression that he'd paid which gmml's post contradicts.

tbh, that it hasn't gotten out of hand says a lot about the nature of this forum. It's a good thing. He's under no doubt that fobbing gmml off will result in isolation, but he also knows that he's welcome to stick around while he acknowledges his responsibilities. It's easy to instantly take the moral high ground and rally round the person owed while isolating the person owing, but none of us here know his financial situation, we can only make assumptions. The fact gmml is happy with recent communication hints heavily that there are indeed private issues which are impacting on his immediate finances. It's probably a little naive of me, but I prefer to give people the benefit of the doubt. I'm glad to be part of a forum where that's the general consensus.

The stupid part of this is the way he has gone about it . If he'd just said I'm short of cash , anyone want to stake me and we'll split the profits 60:40 backers favour h e'd probably have got 40 - 50$ bankroll to grind up easily and been given help and coaching to make those profits.
Now gmml is unknowingly his staker with no profit share .

What a mess. Weld's always been shady. Look at his entire posting history. He comes, goes, clearly has no clue, etc. The only good thing about any of this is that it was a low dollar amount. Still, I don't think he realizes how easy it is to find out who someone is today and the guy lives within driving distance of me. Of course, in this case it's none of my business but I just wouldn't be stiffing people out of money over the internet in today's world. If he did this to me over $300+ (which I know the amount was nowhere near in the case discussed in this thread), I would definitely be bumping into him at his local McDonald's soon.

Honestly, no. I'm well known for minding my own business and leaving people alone. When it's appropriate though - like being ripped off by some p.o.s. online - I definitely am not opposed to creeping...at the very least.

WeldPhaser is not a p.o.s. Just a dude who got into a funk for a minute and made a couple misclicks.
He has since mended all fences, and is a welcome member of FTR.
