Default What does raked hand mean?

im playing on empirepoker and i get a bonus for refering a friend when they 50 raked hands, does that mean they have to win 50 hands?

The "rake" is the casino's share of the pot. Online, most places have a 5% rake. So if the pot was $1, the casino would take $0.05 and the winner would receive $0.95. Depending on the limit and where you play, the rake structure may differ. Most places won't rake pots under $1.00 and set a cap on the maximum rake.

So basically if you refer a friend, they have to sit in on 50 hands that are raked. They don't have to win the hand.

depends on the site. on party (and i would assume empire), tourney play doesn't count toward raked pots.

pokerstars, you get FPP points playing in tourneys that do count toward bonuses.
i hate what i have become to escape what i hated being...

Well in tourney play. The tourney "fee" is basically a flat rate rake. The casino's make money no matter what you play. They just happen to make more raking regular cash games.

    Default what about pre-flop fold?

This exact question was going to be my next post, so I'm hoping someone can help.

In a nutshell, I'm working towards qualifying (and having a referrer qualify) for the initial bonuses on Party Poker. Working towards the necessary "raked hands" deal, and I'm wondering if hands that you fold to the blinds pre-flop count toward your total.

Two days ago when I signed up, my answer to myself was "of course they do, moron... why wouldn't they?". Today I'm in the camp of "of course they don't... why would they?". So I'm back on the fence.

Anyone know the definitive answer on this?

    Thanks.

I will go with, "Of course they do moron, why wouldn't they."

    Sorry, couldn't resist.

Most sites have a rake minimum. I think Paradise is $.25. Party is probably close. If you are part of a hand that has a rake of $.25 than that hand will count, even if you fold and don't put a penny into the pot.

So if you are playing $.01 / $.02 tables, you may not be getting the hands counted in a rake. If you are playing the $.10 / $.25 tables, you still aren't going to have EVERY hand count as raked. Only the ones that rake more than $.25 from the pot.
I don't know what they have to say
    It makes no difference anyway.
    Whatever it is...
    I'm against it.
