Whats your least favorite "good" hand and why?

i'm sure we all have certain hands we just absolutely hate even though most would consider them to be above avg hands.....

my least favorite hand is KK

why?

i think i've lost more money w/ kings than any other hand in hold'em. they're one of those "push preflop" type of hands. very hard for me to let go of.

i've gotten to the point where i pretty much immediately throw away kings if any ace hits the table (since there's always that dumb smuck raising 5x bb preflop w/ A7o). also, i've gotten into the habit of registering for another sng after pushing w/ kings - if they call they'll always have Ax, and you know that ace will always show up on the flop....and if you're lucky...TWO!

hehe, anyway....my thoughts on the matter, what are yours?

AJ- Its highly overvalued and often dominated.

Ak is my second biggest loser over 5000 hands and i often find i get into messy situations with it.

However, i actually love Ace king, not because i do well with it, but because you can put people on the hand easily and people overvalue it waay too much.

silly thread, I'd take KK over any other hand in hold'em, aside from AA.

The thing new players have to realize is, the average pot in hold'em is won with a single pair. If you played 30,000 hands, probably 1/2 of them were won with a pair. I don't have any data to back this up, but it's a pretty damn good guess.

just seems to me my kings always get outdrawn by Ax. also, you are right that perhaps 1/2 of hands are won with just a pair....but also keep in mind all the hands that players may go/call all in with AA, AK, AQ, AJ, etc. have good shots at outdrawing KK (i find some "gambling" players tend to call all in with Ace rag just hoping to breaking somebody w/ KK or QQ). with this in mind, i'm sure the statitics are not so clear cut as you stated before.

perhaps its because of the limits. i play in $10 SnGs where people overvalue Ax, rarely respect raises, etc etc.

I know TT and JJ are great hands but I've had some trouble with them...

A K offsuit has probably made be lose more than any other 'good' hand. I guess I sometimes overvalue it when I hit top pair on the flop, it seems every single time I hit a pair (which rarely happens...) another person has some weak two pair that takes all my stack.

AQ. Three times recently I hit TPTK with this hand, and one other time top two pair, and all four times lost a significant amount of money (or got knocked out of a tournament) on the hand. That's just bad luck I guess, or me not being able to let a hand go - or both. But it's really made me despise AQ. I flinch when I see it.

JJ for me.

Cant really put them down preflop but I end up dumping after.

How do you play the hand pre-flop? JJ is a weird hand; I like to raise the upper end of my pre-flop raise spectrum (maybe 5xBB) and then if I get one or two callers, bet 2/3 of the pot on the flop no matter what comes down, or the full pot if it's all undercard garbage. Usually you can do fine playing the hand that way. If they call or raise, let it go. JJ and QQ are basically the same hand to me and I play them both that way most of the time.

I usually raise preflop (About 4XBB) I will also call a raise but dont like to reraise. If the flop has undercards, I will be pot and see what happens. Also if I'm last to act and its been checked to me after the flop ( Not mater whats on the flop) . I will do a pot size bet. But If someone throws a huge bet out or reraise my pot size bet then I can and will usually fold

Since I moved up to the Bigger Tables I have had AA 6 times. I have lost on 4 of them. On the 3 of the losses I was able to get a player ALL IN PRE FLOP. On the 4th loss this morning, I was in the BB. Only 1 player called the blind...I raised he called. On the rainbow FLOP A J 3, I catch a a set of ACES. I bet the POT...he calls. On the turn...a 7, he checks...I go all in, he calls. The River was a 10. SMUCK catches a straight.

I cannot believe I am 2 - 4 with Pocket Aces. I am always aggressive and someone calls with their lower pocket pair. Unfortunately, they catch a set and I lose.....or if a catch a set, they catch a straight or flush.

AA is the worst hand....I am folding that hand everytime...it has cost me way too much money...

Man, I hope you're kidding.

Anything with a Q (or two) seems to get me in trouble. My worst bad hand is 56s.

QQ. Not bad enough to limp, not good enough to push, often outdrawn but you have to bet to tell. I make money with it i'm sure, but i never know quite how to feel when I see it.

Hands down 1010 has knocked me out of more MTT tourny's than any other hand.

Here's a brilliant example from yesterday. Blinds are 50/100. I'm on button with 1010. MP limps. I raise from button to 400. SB calls. BB on the short stack pushes AI for 460. MP folds. I come over the top AI to isolate BB. So much for that plan SB with an equal stack calls too. OK, I'm not too happy about having him in the pot until I see his hand, A10o. I have him crushed since the BB is also on the A w/ AJo leaving just 2 outs for his entire stack, or so I thought until the board came with 4 hearts. BB won the main pot and trippled up with the Ah, and of course the retard who made a horrible call preflop and was mathmatically crushed walked away with almost my whole stack b/c he had the 10h.

1010 is a killer but I still play it aggressively.

JJ is a dirty hooore

Mine is pocket Queens...

I can make money with Kings, and I'm highly profitable with Jacks, oddly enough... but then with Queens, I'm actually slightly less than break even.

I think I play QQ too much like KK and not enough like JJ.

the problem with having pocket kings is folding them ppl tend nto to fold them when other ppl have them beat with a pair of aces or a set or a striaght flush ect. ppl need to learn that if an ace comes and they knwo they have a second best hand to fold

I have no idea how so many of you say JJ is so hard to lay down making it sooo bad. Limp with it in all positions except CO or button. And only raise there with 1-2 limpers. Take the hand and play it mostly as a small PP...Yes it has potential to become an over pair. If you hit the set or overpair you will be in great position to wreak a nasty surprise.

After all there's no way he's got JJ.

I'm doing better, and I'm playing thoes hands a lot better now (the last 2 days have ground in some hard AJ lessons.)
