what happened to the last two "1000 SNG's" OPs . it all went very quiet after you posted them?.

Having said that , I would think that if Stacks or Spenda had the time and/or inclination that they would probably be able to give it a good shot.

Well, at least we went from 'Let's deposit 1k and play professional pokerz' to 'let's deposit the minimum and gambool.
It's an improvement in a way.

Guys poker isn't' always about playing to be a pro or earning an income. For lots of people it is a form of entertainment or recreation. If you can't have fun playing poker why do it? Don't hate cause he's having fun by doing something you wouldn't.

    GL slevin have a blast!
  23. #23
    joking aside .
    could this be done by
    10 tabling 2NL buying in for $1 until BR=30
10 table 5NL buying in for 2$ until BR =100
    10 table 10NL buying in for $5 until BR=200
    then 25NL to the end

hyper aggressive but I guess as long as as the early bits survive it could be done
  24. #24
I would really like someone to lay odds on this because I want to bet that this gets done

Slight change in goal post here guys. I told my coach what I was doing and he told me no way he wasn't happy, he's happy for me to try a challenge but wouldn't endorse me playing in 'donkaments' so starting br is $75 and I'm starting at 5nl, same target 1k in 12 days. haven't played yet today so br was still +$6 odd, just going to treat this as a new project and start from here.

    On the grind slavin' daily.
In order for you to accomplish this you will have to 10 table for ~13 hours a day and run/play better than it is possible for you to do. Because of this I suggest you take the same approach as a slot machine player. It is much better to take one $100 pull of a slot machine than taking 100 $1 pulls. This is because over the larger sample size odds play more of a role and luck plays less of one. So you should take your $75 and shortstack 200nl to victory.

it doesn't matter how good you are, it matters how lucky you are if you're not using proper BR management

IOPQ I'm using an aggressive br strategy, it's still br management. There is a luck factor obv but it's more skill than luck.

Dont understand the 'seriously with this comment in this thread' post imo =/

I'm kinda bored and am thinking of doing a $50-->$1k challenge, I figure w/ minimal variance it would take me ~5 days using proper BR management

Don't tell him what to do Spenda. He's "Actually.... a decent player now =)".

Also.. I would think most decent players would be a winner at poker.

Good luck either way. The goal isn't impossible. However, it does fall into the category of another one of your goals, which as we all know have failed in the past. And it also makes you look as if you haven't learned much of anything about poker since you've been here, since you are using a relatively poor BR management system (or were before your coach told you not to), and you also still seem to have little to no understanding of how variance could come into play with this goal.

meh i've learnt tons about poker the last couple of weeks - also it's quite flawed logic tbh mr stax. If I've learnt more than I did before my past failings are obvioulsy pretty inconsequential.

interesting about the hand cheers spenda i'll review that hand a little later

I tend to bet like that to balance my range if I only bet when I'm strong I think it makes for a very exploitable play, but you I'll definately check it out seen as you've pointed it out.

Next session about to begin =)

nah seriously slevin, if you want to do well at poker you need to get a decent bankroll going and grind like the rest of the world.. gimmicky challenges are maybe good for a laugh or an idiot hobbyist but they only delay and hinder a real poker student's development...

I know I mean would it be the same accomplishment, disregarding relative skill levels, if spenda won 1k in the next 12 days without ever being -75 over that period even though he didn't actually start with only $75.

Another session about even, I'll tell you one good thing about this type of challenge it forces you to really concentrate on making the right moves, losing 2 or 3 buy ins could be the unravelling of the whole thing if it cascades.

I was 4 buy ins down at one point during the session but managed to pull it back together and finished even.

Going to chill for a bit before I start the last session of the day

    Current br: $115

How many hands have you played to take 75 up to 115?
The Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias in which unskilled individuals suffer from illusory superiority, mistakenly rating their ability much higher than average. This bias is attributed to a metacognitive inability of the unskilled to recognize their mistakes

Decided against last session so am going to call it a day now as I felt bit tired and have a fresh start tommorow, so end day 1 summary:

    Br: +$45
    Hands played: 3900

Just need to make sure I get some momemtum in one of the early sessions tomorrow and should be a good day I think I spent last two sessions playing catch up today after losing some buy ins early or midway though!
