    Default 5nl and beyond

OK, finally sorted my self out and made it to 5nl. Beating 2nl just sorta clicked in the end. I studied a little bit more than I have done before, and it just happened. I also think I ran ridiculously well.

Gonna play sparingly at 5nl, and going to spend most of the month continuing with 2nl, so I can have a convincing winrate over at least 25k hands.

But, as I said, having just over 20BI I'm taking a shot. If it goes really well, then I won't continue with 2nl lol. You can see my short-mid term goal in my sig. I think it's a fair pursuit and more than doable.

Thanks to those in the IRC that helped...which in a funny sort of way was everyone, but particularly those that offered progressive advice.

just set your stop loss at $90 and you have 6BI at 5nl . try 5nl and see how it goes . Trying to get an epic win rate at 2nl won't help you in the long run. Once you are rolled .move up and give it a try, if it doesn't work drop down get rolled again and give it another shot. This is discipline, trying to crush 2nl when you should be moving up is either ego , or scared of the leap.

Good luck with your shot at 5NL - it won't be that different from 2NL except you'll find a few more multi tabling nits. Basically just play your 2NL game and see how it goes.

It's going ok so far, realising that 5nl involves a lot less open-limping and a lot more high betting and unwillingness to lay down hands by Villains.

I had an silly session last night where I lost just over 1.5 BI but whatever, I tilted slightly after a big pot loss, then just logged off - best thing.

Had a good session just now that had two really difficult hands both against the same reg (see the BC for one of them). My current BR is about $113 or something, maybe slightly more.

Going ok so far, although I'm not studying like I ought to be. I have serious life tilt issues with my gf.

Probably going to move up at 30BI rather than 20BI

    life sucks atm

Ok, so I'm moving up to 10nl.

What are the main differences between the two stakes?

Not much really. Average table VP$IP is lower compared to 2-5NL. Blind stealing works a lot more and other random shit. As any time you move up, the regs increase and the fish decrease. At 10NL tho, the regs are mostly weak-tight and very easy to play against. Just play your normal game and adjust to the villains as you go.

So you think it's normal to spunk over 200bb on two pair?

I think it would depend on his read on you but at 5NL, top 2 beats a lot of your range. So, I'd still call it a cooler.

If his reads on me were decent, he would know I'm very rarely if ever getting it in for 200bb+ without the nuts.

Moved up and one tabled today and won two buyins. I feel my game has improved so much over the last few weeks. Been doing sweats and talking poker with some winning 25-200nl players...not to mention I've learnt to control my tilt better and just lay down hands even when I'm itching to call.
The whole thing about ranges has just fallen into place recently..I've been working on it. Cheers all
