August - 100 hours + other stuff

Although I stopped updating my last thread I paid off my overdraft and hence completed the challenge. Kind of cheated and got a job and did it that way rather than playing poker though.

So as a result of working full time my poker volume has sucked. Here is my graph from last month.


As you can see 8k hands is not a lot, especially when I 3 table zoom (~750hands/hour)

Usually 100 hours would be our of reach however I'm off work for the last half of the month and putting in two hours on days that I work shouldn't be too hard.

Also will use this thread to keep track of some fitness goals as I've recently started playing squash and need to get in better shape. I'm also going to not drink all month which will be interesting as it's my birthday on the 19th!

Anyway enough bullshit, let's play some poker.

5 Hours played





Aim is 15 hours before monday, so same again tomorrow and saturday and that puts me in a nice spot where I don't have to worry too much about long sessions whilst working.

Played ok for most of the day.

Slightly less than 4 hours in today, woke up late and wanted to watch the football and a bit of the cricket. Will get in a couple more hours before bed though and with tomorrow completely free 15 hours still easily doable.


Got the roll to move back up to 10nlz and ran really well, think I'm playing ok in most spots and I'm definitely finding the fold button a bit more today. Always easier when things are going well though. Think today is my biggest winning day in terms of cash game winnings, not 100% sure though.

Volume sucked a little today compared to what I wanted. Once again was up late and I got a bit tilted in my last session at the end so thought I best call it a day.





Back to work tomorrow so volume will drop, still should be able to do 2 hours a day very easily. If not more, so I'm taking 2 as an absolute minimum.

Good luck with this. What you doing for work at the moment?

Shitty admin job at insurance brokers. People are ok and it's a piece of piss so it's bearable, 6 months from September then I'mgone.

As for poker it continued to go crap so dropped back down to 5nl. Got my hours to 17 though which is where I wanted to be.

GL on your OP. What are ur BR rules out of curiosity?

I'm taking shots at 10nlz at $150 but I'm on a stake, I moved back down at $100 but next time I take a shot I will move down at $120 although clearly that ain't going to happen. I don't see myself playing 25nlz any time soon and I'm on a stake so isn't up to me really.

Going to call it a day and get some much needed sleep. Hopefully get a bit of time in playing before work as I'm playing squash tomorrow which breaks the day up a bit more awkwardly.

Turns out my shoulder is pretty fucked from work, from my seat being too small for me, sorted that out and going to give it time to rest which will hopefully be good enough to start training before the end of the week. Then I can get back to my pullup training, might eventually be able to do 1

Anyway, quick update.

Had a work BBQ today and once again turned down free booze. Pretty sure I would have done even if I wasn't not drinking this month just because drinking during the day whilst still at work when it's a friday anyway would just make it drag on more than it already did. Can't wait for my time off, so far ahead on my work that I have fuck all to do is shit.

Didn't play Wednesday as I was fucked after squash, Thursday I was lazy as fuck and today I only got an hour in as I had to look after my sister.

20.75/100

Will push it this weekend and as I only have 3 more days left at work this month time should free up although I'm not at home for a couple of days in the middle of the month (nothing exciting unfortunately) so I can't see myself playing any poker then.

Considering I don't even have to average 4 hours a day for the days I'll be around I will still crush this.

10 hours over this weekend, will check back in tomorrow.

Day has gone well, properly dragged out the poker though so ended up doing very little else apart from poker and faffing about. That needs working on. Had a good day, winnings + sunday storm sat win mean I'm back at 10nlz.

Played pretty meh today and won some which is nice. Hopefully things are back on track now for 10nlz and I can stay there for a bit longer.

Probably won't update again till Thursday morning as have my last three days at work, will put a few hours in and clear my next Stellar reward (a whole $10!!!) for definite though as I'm only 91VPP away.

No Drinking - Drank on two days, first day of the season and a friend had a party as he'd finished his exams.


On 61.25 hours currently, aim is to hit 75.

Fitness has also been going ok, definitely stronger than I was when I started but cardio has taken a hit past couple of weeks as my toe is fucked which means I can't really play squash.

After some run bad/play shit at 10nl zoom (doubt I'm winning here tbh) dropped back down to 5nlz and carried on playing shit. Mixing in some regular tables now though and all is going well, also running really well in sunday storm sats so that is always nice.

Will post results & graphs at the end of the month.

Yeah, win rates at micro Zooms are definitely lower. It's pretty obvious though when you think about it: all of the regs are attracted to Zoom, you can't table and seat select and you rarely build up enough hands or notes on any villains. More importantly though, with the fast fold button, the fish aren't playing such a wide range or becoming tied to any pair like they will when one-tabling regular games.
